Oak Group is a privately held corporation which provides Financial & Insurance services and training. Oak Group is also a Third Party Administrator of vehicle service contracts and ancillary products in the automotive industry. The company generates $20M in revenue, with an employee base of 19.

Chief Financial Officer / Director of Operations

Directed the overall financial policies, procedures, staff, and other resources. Acted as a strong business partner to the owners and leadership team. Developed and implemented new procedures, using the existing administration system, which allowed for the creation of more accurate and timely reports.

Oversaw financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, insurance, tax, and treasury.

Supervised year-end financials and audit.

Managed the operations of 3 departments, which included 9 employees.

American Guardian is a privately held corporation providing vehicle service contracts in the automotive industry. American Guardian is made up of five separate companies generating $80M in revenue, with an employee base of 70.

Corporate Controller

Integrated a new administration system with the accounting package, which resulted in improved accuracy and processing time of information. Developed and implemented a budget / forecasting process for the corporation.

Supervised the financial department, which delivered timely and accurate month-end financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations. Oversaw year-end financials and audit.

Oversaw the development of 4 departments, which included 13 employees.

Leader of a committee to develop and implement new revenue streams. Developed a procedure to reduce losses by $250k in the first year.

LEVEL 3 COMMUNICATIONS (Looking Glass Networks, Acquired), Oak Brook, IL 2000 – 2008

Level 3 is a publicly traded international communications company, operating one of the largest communications and internet backbones in the world. The company will generate an estimated $4B in revenue, with an employee base of 6,500.

Financial Planning & Analysis Manager (2006- 2008)

Developed and managed a budget of $169M for a division of over 850 employees. Analyzed and forecasted monthly financials. Generated monthly financial reports and key performance indicators, which were presented to key stakeholders. Developed policies and procedures to advance the growth and integration of the division. Liaison between the Operation and Finance Departments.

Spearheaded the integration of a key critical system for five acquired companies that ensured no interruption of service for our customers

Accounting Manager (Looking Glass Networks 2000-2006)

Looking Glass Networks was a startup in the Telecom industry, constructing and operating a backbone network in ten key metropolitan markets. The company generated an estimated $80M in revenue for 2006, with an employee base of 150. The company was acquired by Level 3 communications in Aug 2006. Prepared and reviewed a yearly and monthly corporate budget of $65M, analyzed and reviewed financial forecasting, directly reporting to Controller and CFO. Monitored and managed capital assets of $200M, and determined the financial viability of capital expenditures’ projects and construction buildout.

Developed, reviewed and supported corporate policies and procedures, supported various annual audits.

Shortened the reporting time on key performance matrix from a five day process to three days

BUILDERS GROUP OF COMPANIES / KDA, Addison, IL 1994 - 2000

Largest privately held plumbing and kitchen wholesale distributor in the Midwest, which was made up of five individual companies. The combined companies generated an estimated $300M in revenue, with an employee base of 750.

Director of Accounting

Directly reported to CFO and President. Prepared and reviewed yearly, quarterly and monthly financial statements, budgets and sales commissions. Composed new policies and procedures to ensure the on-going future of the corporation. Provided reports to all internal and external customers in a timely fashion. Oversaw the Departments of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Credit and HR. Performed due diligence on acquired companies. Oversaw the training and development of four essential staff accountants. Regional Manager of east-coast branches.
