Cummins Inc. USA: BMS Application is used by Cummins Distributors and their dealers across North America to keep track of their daily business activities. BMS application is an Order management System and is completely Oracle based. Through this application, distributors can raise Purchase Orders to Vendors, generate Sales Orders, Manage Inventory and generate Reports. BMS Application covers various modules such as Parts and Inventory, NDH, Service and Finance.

During my tenure, I was involved in the development, enhancement and support of BMS Application related to the Finance, Parts, Inventory and service Module. SPOC for solving any issues in the various modules deployed across different environments. Also, Involved in work allocation, tracking of work and ensuring quality deliverables.

Following is a list of some major projects completed:

Project Name: ONE BMS

Team Size: 7

Project Details: One BMS project is to merge all BMS 16 distributors in three instances, one to deal with the USA region, another one to deal with the CANADA region and one to deal with the PUERTO RICO region. Idea behind this project is to identified how the current BMS functionality will be worked on One BMS instance and which all new functionality need to add, as identified new requirement.

Responsibilities:

Understand the requirement of Project.

Involved in all and new requirement discussion/System Testing from offshore. As a team lead involved the entire team member in analysis and provided the impact on current BMS system.

Interaction with TA’s and clients for inputs for requirements.

Shared the estimation of individual modules requirements.

Involved in preparing solution design document, High Level Design & Function Specification of various requirements.

Worked on Solution Design document and handed over the document with effective solution on time.

Project Name: GL Remediation and Inter Company (IC)

Project Details: This Project requires Integration between Distributor Business Management System (BMS) and BOLT system for BMS GL data. In this project Cummins Chart of Account (CoA) implemented into BMS system, different setup/configuration allows to add through new screen in

BMS, BMS posting logic changed. BMS system sent the summarized GL data with CoA to BOLT system using Middleware. Instead of external CoA mapping, CMI chart of Accounts will be created & setup in BMS application itself.

Responsibilities:

Understand the requirement of Project. Worked more on Functional side for this project from offshore.

Worked on POC to meet the functional requirements.

Worked on procedures, and functions using SQL and PL/SQL for different modules.

After completion of successful POC, Involved in preparing solution design document, High Level Design & Function Specification of various modules.

Provide the Estimation for the project from offshore.

Project Details: This Project requires Integration between Distributor Business Management System (BMS) and BOLT system for General Ledger (GL) data. BMS system will send summarized and CoA (Chart of Accounts) mapped General Ledger (GL) data to BOLT system using Middleware.

Worked at function side to understand the impact on existing system and defining the approach to implement the project.

Played the Developer role as well as Team lead role for this project.

Project Details: As per the new project introduce the new EDI customer in BMS system. New implementation will help the Customer to do the electronically order transaction. As of today customer used to place the order in BMS and used to manage everything manually. By implanting new flow customer will place the order in BMS and that order details will get flow automatically in customer expected format via EDI to customer system.

Responsibilities:

Understand the requirement, created the SDD (Solution Design Document), High Level Document (HLD), provided the estimation.

Developed database objects packages, procedures using SQL and PL/SQL.

Created the Global Temporary Table to store the invoice data and UTL_File package to write/read the invoice details from flat file.

Design the New jobs in Appworx to automate the flow.

Project Details: Distributor uses the BMS application (Business Management System) for their business functions. This application helps the distributor to perform the day to day business of sales and service of the Cummins Engines and parts to the end customers.

As per the new DBU IQA RA Implementation Project, BMS Application shall undergo changes in order to implement IQA-RA check before the Engine is sold and shipped to customer.

Responsibilities:

Created database schema objects packages, procedures, and functions using SQL and PL/SQL.

Troubleshoot performance issues and bugs within packages, forms using dbms_output.

Testing.

Project Name: BMS Distributor Consolidation

Team Size: 4

Distributor consolidation process that includes data, hardware, network, server, and external system consolidation. Distributor data consolidation involves changing the bought distributor’s data based on code mapping, sequence renumbering etc. and transferring it over to the buying distributor data. It involves sending the list of codes to the distributor team for mapping, identifying special requirements for each consolidation, implementing the test consolidation, identifying the root cause for all problems encountered during testing, and production data consolidation.

Responsibilities:

Developed and performed Unit Testing of Database scripts for Tables, Views, Synonyms, Indexes, Constraints, Triggers, Sequences, Functions, Procedures, Packages and Oracle Type Objects.

The objective of the project was to SFTP all the outbound flows from BMS server to new EDI server.

Created UNIX script for SFTP of outbound files.

BMS Application Support Oct 2009 - Sep 2011

Worked on BMS support and Enhancement work, handled different issue, excessively involved in

BMS finance issue like month end issue, GL out of balance, customer payment, vendor payment related issue. Provided the analysis on different issues and created and worked on CR for permanent fix.

Responsibilities:

Acknowledge the tickets, identify the issue type like related to finance/parts/inventory/service accordingly move the tickets to right queue.

Send the email communication to users as per the process.

High and critical incidents are always on priority, coordinate with other teams like ops DBA, Appworx team, windows team etc. to fix the issue ASAP.
