MINI-PROJECT (Duration – 3 months) (Team members – 3)
1.Title – “Design and Fabrication of the Four Bar linkage Gripper”
Project description – The gripping mechanism is used in the pick and place robots to grip an object. The gripping mechanism is based on the basic concepts of kinematics of machinery and it is also called the four bar linkage (double lever mechanism). In our project we have designed and fabricated the four bar linkage gripper using the various sized links, two spur gears, a worm gear, a rubber gripper and the movement is powered by an 12V AC wiper motor connected to a 12V battery. Under the working conditions we can see the gripper grasping and ungrasping the object placed.
2.Title – “Design and Fabrication of the Pantograph mechanism for drawing a straight line”
Project description – The Pantograph is used to enlarge or reduce the size of drawings. The Pantograph mechanism is nothing but the four bar mechanism. In our project we designed and fabricated a Pantograph mechanism for drawing a straight line, where the mechanism used is four bar linkage (double crank) mechanism and under the working condition it will draw a straight line. This Pantograph has various sized links, two spur gears and a pen to draw a straight line.
MAIN PROJECT (Duration – 4 months) (Team members – 4)
Title – “Analysis of Heat Transfer in a Shell type Heat Exchanger using CFD”
Project description – The study deals with the CFD simulation of the shell and tube heat exchanger by using a straight tube and a helical coil and comparing both of its performance based on heat transfer. The purpose of this project is to analyze the heat transfer using the ANSYS Fluent 14.5 software and design calculations and practically experimenting it by using a fabricated heat exchanger.
