RELATED EXPERIENCE
FDOT UNF Research Assistant Jacksonville, FL 09/2016 - Present
• Co-designed novel energy harvesting system that utilized single line conduction via rebar in reinforced concrete to harvest RF energy from rebar surface and communicate to other sensors via RF energy on rebar surface.
• Investigated existing research for energy harvesting systems in ultra-low energy state, single line conduction, remote sensing methodologies, concrete degradation sensing, spread spectrum communications.
• Designed and fabricated experiment to investigate the capability of a designed Transverse Magnetic (TM) wave coupler in two rebar topologies and under a variety of testing conditions. G.E. Transportation Signal Engineering Intern/Co-Op Jacksonville, FL 09/2015 – 08/2016
• Modified railroad crossing schematics by updating gate circuits, underground cables, track circuit polarities, track circuit frequencies, track circuit shunts, and track circuit dummy loads, PLC modules, and relay configuration.
• Completed ISO-9000 quality assurance documentation after all design revisions.
• Used relay logic simulator perform equation testing and implement ladder logic correction.
• Used railroad schematics to cross-check Bill of Materials.
• Trained on Zuken E3 CAD software, a software suite used to automate CAD modifications. Medtronic UNF Team Lead Jacksonville, FL 08/2015 – 04/2016
• Co-designed a semi-automated machine that assembled a spring-plug: the spring-plug is a component that is loaded into a sinus dilator that hand pumps air into a chamber until the spring-plug occludes pathway.
• Programmed PLC using Boolean Logic, statistical analysis, State Machine coding, and Pulse Width Modulation to automate assembly cycle.
• Co-authored wiring diagrams, CAD dimensions of electrical components, Power and Signal Block Diagrams, power analysis, and relay logic.
• Assisted in dimensioning mechanical aspects of system, selection of mechanical parts, and implementing electromechanical components.
• Won Senior Capstone of the Year Award for our team’s achievements and outstanding performance. Gerdau Electrical Engineering Intern Jacksonville, FL 05/2015 – 08/2015
• Designed flow control panel to regulate gas flow of Nitrogen and Argon mixes dopant compounds into a ladle with 92 tons of molten iron.
• Programmed PLC to read pressure & flowrate data, control set-points, drive solenoid states, receive Human-Machine Interface commands.
• Implemented PID control loop to regulate the volumetric rate gas flow of Nitrogen and Argon gas.
• Programmed HMI monitor to allow operator to select different flow rates and select Nitrogen or Argon gas. IEEE Robotics Competition Navigation System Lead Jacksonville, FL 08/2014 – 03/2015
• Programmed Microchip® MCU using C-language to implement PID algorithm and Mealy state machine in order to stabilize and automate the Line Following and Navigation System.
• Designed and fabricated IR sensor circuitry to map the local ground environment.
• Utilized MATLAB toolboxes to investigate and tune PID controls to stabilize the physical system.
• Trial tested the performance of implemented control system to determine the reliability. HONORS AND NOTERIETIES
