Number of COBOL / VSAM programs were converted to COBOL / DB2, were tested using test data that were loaded into DB2 test tables and the results were compared to the baseline data.

Several of the converted COBOL / DB2 programs that failed the testing required modifying the COBOL code due to the difference on how data is retrieved from a VSAM file than how data is retrieved from a DB2 table.

Several of the converted COBOL / DB2 programs that failed the testing required either modifying or adding DB2 SQL calls due to the difference on how data is retrieved from a VSAM file than how data is retrieved from a DB2 table.

Programmer / Analyst Consultant for Carpenter – Wyomissing, PA

A number of VSAM files were modified by changing them from variable length to fixed length due to a change of the size of several existing data fields, addition of several new data fields, and to allow for the future modification of the data fields.

Due to the modification of the VSAM files the JCL DELETE DEFINE's were modified by changing the DEFINE from variable length to fixed length and the record length.

The COBOL / VSAM programs that used the modified VSAM files were modified by changing the VSAM record layouts modifying the change in the size of the existing data fields, adding the data fields, and the record length.
