MASONITE CORPORATION, Tampa, FL 2008 - Present

GENERAL MANAGER: Responsible for the hands-on management of a multi-faceted Customer Centric manufacturing job-shop producing very high quality show and showroom displays, sales samples, literature fulfillment, custom finishing and custom projects in support of various Corporate goals and initiatives .

Key Achievements:

Through Lean implementation reduced plant labor 59% increasing productivity to their highest levels.

Setup, staffed and Integrated the Corporate Helpline call center within 2-weeks from notice of closure of the 3rd party call center.

Designed and implemented an Operating Software System to include every plant process from Order Entry to shipping including bin locations, cycle counting and true inventory management, prior method was inventory on an Excel spreadsheet.

DELUXE CORPORATION, Lithia Springs, GA 1999 - 2008

DIRECTOR / SITE LEADER. P & L responsibility for the catalog fulfillment operations, including three fulfillment centers in Canada, Massachusetts, Georgia and oversight of a 3PL Fulfillment Vendor in California.

Key Achievements:

Successfully represented the fulfillment plants on the Deluxe/NEBS integration team responsible for implementing SAP into the NEBS channels and facilities.

Successfully represented the fulfillment operations as project manager on 7 consolidation projects while providing oversight management to 4 plants.

Project managed the expansion and integration of the Hot Stamp operation into the Georgia facility increasing production thru lean techniques resulting in a 64% reduction in CPI (cost per impression, the lowest cost ever achieved in the 12 year program.

NEW ENGLAND BUSINESS SERVICE, (NEBS), Lithia Springs, GA - 1999 – 2004

Deluxe Corporation acquired New England Business Service, Inc. (NEBS) in June 2004 combining to become the leading supplier of products and services to small businesses.

PROJECT DIRECTOR-DISTRIBUTION & APPAREL. P & L responsibility for the catalog fulfillment operations of The NEBS family of companies, including: NEBS, Chiswick, Chiswick Canada, Bags and Bows, Russell & Miller, Sale Signs and Premiumwear.

Key Achievements:

Successfully laid out and managed a new start-up fulfillment center as part of the NEBS expansion and regionalization plan in Georgia outperforming the original Massachusetts plant by 60% in lower CPO (cost per order).

Promoted rapidly in the first 3 years from Distribution Center Manager for the Georgia plant to Director of Operation, responsible for 4 plants in Georgia, California, Massachusetts and Canada.

Promoted in year four to Projector Director Distribution & Apparel, reporting directly to the Sr. VP of NEBS. Responsible for project management and process improvement in any NEBS plant having a fulfillment operation. Including layout changes, expansions, consolidations, training and budgetary improvement.

Turned-around the operation of our apparel & embroidery plant in 3 months, succeeding in being under budget for the first time since buying the company and improving the service levels from 82% to 99%.

Successfully managed two expansions and layout changes in the Georgia plant, from 60,000 SF, to 80,000 to a final of 122,400 SF.

THE J. PETERMAN COMPANY, Lexington, KY - 1996 – 1999

DISTRIBUTION CENTER MANAGER. P & L responsibility for a catalog and retail merchandiser of specialty men and women’s fashion, home furnishings and collectibles. Accountable for the management of catalog pick/pack/ship, retail pick/pack/ship, receiving, inventory control and returns processing.

Key Achievements:

Reduced labor by 28% and supplies by 48% by negotiating better supply purchases, reducing inventory and labor while improving production output and implementing more efficient warehouse layouts and procedures.

Introduced teamwork, cross training and safety training procedures.

Implemented computerized manifesting and proposed using Priority mail in lieu of UPS, for packages under 3 lbs., resulting in a yearly savings of $300,000 plus.

Managed the startup of our retail expansion, including software and process implementation while meeting the demands of 10 new store openings in one year.

CONCEPT PACKAGING GROUP, Cynthiana KY - 1995 - 1996

OPERATIONS MANAGER. P & L responsibility for a manufacturer of corrugated and specialty packaging. Accountable for the “hands-on” management of manufacturing, including production at two separate facilities, purchasing, inventory control, shipping, receiving, maintenance, sales service management and accounting.

Key Achievements:

Turned-around operation from a negative cash flow situation to a profitable positive operation within a 5-month period.

Reduced overhead over 30% by negotiating better supply purchases, reducing inventory and labor while improving production output and eliminating workers compensation claims.

Introduced team-work, cross-training and TQM manufacturing processes reducing setup times and waste while increasing production levels and quality.

Implemented quality control training and processes, as a first step to ISO 9001 certification.

MULTI-WALL PACKAGING CORPORATION, Martinsville, VA - 1993 - 1995

PLANT MANAGER. P & L responsibility for a manufacturer of custom corrugated packaging. Accountable for the “hands-on” management of manufacturing, shipping, receiving, maintenance and customer service management. Additional duties include computer network administration, raw material negotiations for all Multi-Wall plants

Reduced overhead over 20% by negotiating better raw supply purchases.

Introduced teamwork and cross training manufacturing processes, achieving the highest production levels ever reached by this corporation.

Implemented quality control training and processes, setting corporate wide standards.

OPERATIONS MANAGER, Paramount, CA. P & L responsibility for a manufacturer of operable and portable partitions. Accountable for the “hands-on” management of manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, customer service, purchasing and inventory control. Additional duties include computer system installation and technical support to all departments.

Turned-around operations for a company purchased out of bankruptcy.

Reduced production time for engineering detail packages from 2 days to 4 hours.

Implemented a computerized inventory control system and created BOM’s for all products.

Reduced inventory from $680,000 to $255,000.

Increased weekly production from 60 units to 120 units by designing a new plant layout and reorganizing material flow.

Improved the manufacturing supplies budget from $20,000 over, to within projection while still purchasing new tools and equipment - all within a 5-month period.

Designed, built and laid-out an entire hydraulic shearing and punching line for the production of a new all-steel operable partition.
