Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, familiar with PeakFit software.

Detail oriented with strong scientific writing.

Education

Willamette University Salem, OR

Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry, May 2017

Activities: 2017 National Symposium for Undergraduate Research (NSUR) at St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, 2015 and 2016 Murdock College Science Research Conference.

Awards: 2017 ACS Division of Organic Chemistry Outstanding Senior Organic Chemistry Student, 2016 Murdock College Science Research Project Organic Chemistry Poster Award, Mary Stuart Rogers Scholarship, the Lola Dasch Seeger and Mervin E. Seeger Science Scholarship and the Ralph E. Purvine Scholarship.

Research: Worked for two years on the synthesis of novel compounds for the treatment of retinal degeneration.

Extracurriculars: Organic chemistry tutor (2015-2017), Chemistry club (2013-2015), Mortar Board College Senior Honor Society member (2016-2017).

Specialization: I have studied biochemistry, inorganic, physical chemistry I and II, organic chemistry, organometallic, and instrumental chemistry. I studied a year’s worth of Experimental Chemistry, enabling me to become proficient in writing detail oriented lab reports and getting familiar with instruments and techniques such as UV-Vis, FT-IR, GC-MS, LC, polarimetry, FT-NMR, organic chemistry synthesis, and inorganic synthesis.

Experience

Willamette University Salem, OR

Chemist, June 2015 to May 2017

Worked 2 years on a project synthesizing novel tetracaine derivatives for the development of a treatment of a degenerative eye disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa and to investigate the compound’s role in cyclic nucleotide-gated ion channels.

The work I performed was mainly focused on running the reaction, often in inert environments, extraction of product, LC, extensive work with FT-NMR.

Developed an organized record keeping protocol and wrote step by step methodology for all procedures.

Presented the work two at the Murdock College Science Research Conference years in a row.
