Senior Project Manager (Consultant)

Manage multiple projects for PacifiCorp, a leading North West utility and subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy (BHE). Projects include:

oImplementation of a new change and incident management tracking system (BMC Remedy) for all BHE affiliate energy companies. Managed a project team of five IT technical staff and ten IT business experts with a budget of $1.2M. Responsible for all financial and status tracking and reporting, and for project schedule adherence. Recognized by primary stakeholder for on-time delivery within budget and scope.

oInstallation of new mainframe emulation software for approximately 1,700 users across PacifiCorp. The team included three IT technical staff and over 15 business experts involved in conversion of emulator supported scripts used for critical business functions. Served as liaison between users and vendor in a $300K valued project. Tracked all project deliverables, and financial information in SAP.

oManaged an effort to implement VMWare software (vRealize Business) to track IT software, hardware, and labor costs. Assumed technical responsibilities to assist Vendor in software installation and maintenance in an IT technical resource constrained environment. Tracked financials and status for multiple affiliate companies within a project budget of $1.6M

Managed multiple projects for PacifiCorp in Portland, Oregon. Worked closely with internal clients to create Statements of Work and manage vendor relationships for capital projects. Performed all project financial reporting requirements in a federal and state regulated environment. Assumed project management and final implementation of a $25M OpenLink Endur energy trading risk management (ETRM) system that interfaced to Energy Management SCADA systems Via TIBCO Rendezvous messaging. Participated in the implementation of NERC CIP and Security processes. Successfully managed the implementation of a replacement Energy Accounting System (EAS) in the WECC balancing authority. Lead a subsequent $1.5M upgrade effort of the EAS to improve application functionality and performance utilizing service-oriented architecture under Agile development methodology. Guided client Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) in the validation of vendor deliverables and determination and documenting of client responsibilities. Managed an upgrade to an energy utility resource optimization and modeling application (iOPT, a subsidiary of Openlink). Infrastructure projects delivered include conversion to an EMC Symmetrix VMax storage array for a large application and implementation of Recovery Point system software as well as upgrades to Win Server versions. Implemented projects to convert hardware to VMware in order to save cost and increase availability. Implemented systems to track compliance of General Computer Controls and Sarbanes-Oxley regulations. Responsible for tracking and auditing vendor invoices for both services and travel expenses. Tracked issues and risks for client throughout all project phases. Responsible for overseeing test planning, including guiding the creation of test cases and scenarios to validate requirements. Created full MS Project plans for client to track to vendor project plan, including all dependencies and gaps. Responsible for identifying and coordinating seamless integration with existing and new applications impacted by the introduction of the ETRM/EAS.
