Currently I am Deputy Manager, Electrical Maintenance in a Combined Cycle Gas Power Plant in India with 9 direct reports and other contract resources.

I have held various responsibilities at GIPCL starting from initial construction of this generation plant. Over the years my responsibilities included:

Formulation of Employee occupational health, safety and environment policies

Policy and procedure development for department

Budget planning, monitoring and management

This extensive Gas Power plant experience in various phases with strong academic background enables me to take up responsibility in any power plant management position.

Considering my comprehensive experience of power plant project management/maintenance my organization deputed me to GMDC Akrimota (2x 125 MW) Lignite based thermal power plant to improve their overall performance as a Technical consultant for about 15 months. This project site was extremely remote because of its location in desert state of Kutch, Gujarat. The assignment was a challenging one.

Recently along with my routine maintenance activities, I had been assigned a project of 1MW Distributed Solar PV Power Plant by my organization. The Plant has been successfully commissioned and operating with high Performance Ratio. My basic responsibilities included preparing specifications of all capital electrical equipments like 1 MVA transformer, 11 KV HT switchgears, LT switchgears, DC system like Battery and Battery Chargers as well as MMS structures, PV modules, SJB’s and inverter for this project. I was also a core team member for erection and commissioning of all above equipments as well as required electrical jobs and cabling for entire project.

I am responsible for the maintenance of the following main plant equipments as well as auxiliaries to enhance the plant performance and availability.

As an active member of the E & I maintenance department I have performed Combustion, HGP and Major Inspection including Generator Rotor withdrawal for inspection as per OEM specifications.

My organizational responsibilities include:

Prepare and implement work order management system and permit to work system in SAP-R3

Ensure conformity of all safety procedures and environment control regulations as per ISO 9001.

Trouble shooting & provide directions to the team of technicians and contractors for better accomplishment of capital overhaul and break down related jobs

Co-ordination with various departments for planned shutdowns for preventative maintenance, renovation etc.

Administratively manage group of Supervisors & Technicians,

Vendor development & Indigenization of Spares.

Generate Purchase Requisitions, Tendering & Evaluation and Contract Management.

Accomplishments

With proactive and predictive maintenance techniques improved Plant Availability Factor from 85% to 97% which is one of the best among Indian power plants

Successfully ensured cost-cutting for Spares by developing indigenous vendors.

Developed in-house relay testing and Switchgear testing facilities.

Initiated energy saving measures and saved a sizable amount for our organization.

Implemented various modifications in plant to reduce problems associated with main equipments as well as associated auxiliaries.

Adopted latest predictive maintenance tools to improve the life cycle of the equipments

Operated Black Start facility during a region wide Cascade Tripping
