Resume:

Ralph Hays - **** Sanger Avenue #*** - Waco, Texas 76712 - 608-***-****

My Career Goal and Objective:

To have a career position where I can utilize the knowledge, abilities, and talent I have learned and developed in graphic art, design, and creation or related fields. Employment History-

Graphic Designer - Hornet Signs Waco, Texas - December 2016 to the February 2017 Resident Care-giver Staff-March 2005 to November 2016 - Brotoloc South, Inc. Graphic Artist - Fall of 2003 to March 2005 - Aropa Designs, Inc. Graphic Artist - Spring of 2003 to Fall 2003- Throndsen Lettering Inc. Claims Call Center Representative – American Family Insurance – August 1999 to May 2001 Computer Laser Technician – Janesville Group Limited – January 1999 to August 1999 Computer Graphic Artist - Janesville Group Limited – Oct.1989 through January 1998 I have extensive experience with the creation, refinement and development of graphic design. I have a mastery of color harmonies, typography, and graphic elements. I am an advanced user of various SVG software which include – CorelDraw (comparable to InDesign, CS, and many adobe software programs), Photoshop, Photo-Paint, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, Internet Explorer, Windows 95-98-NT-2000-XP, W7,Vista. Hardware experience would include horizontal & flatbed scanners, various printers, digital cameras & fax. I have been described as someone who has superior written skills.

In addition to this I have many years with customer service, marketing and sales experience/knowledge. As you will see below I have many rewarding years in the health care field as care-giver. However, my first desire and goal is to remain in the graphic and computer art fields. While in that career field I have created graphic designs for screen printing, specialty advertising, sign shops, and laser etching companies for many years. There are many other work experiences shown which contribute to your open position & would be a benefit in any position.

*As computer graphic artist or graphic designer I designed, created, scanned or cleaned-up numerous pieces of art to be used in screen printing, signs, power-point screens, brochures or embroidery. Some pieces created were email attachments, hand-drawn scribbles, or merely faxes, which I had to clean up and render into camera-ready art. Sometimes I created art "on the fly". This was where the customer/clients were looking over my shoulder or sitting next to me watching as I was working creating their artwork piece on the computer. If in some instances a customer could not tell me what they wanted I had to ask a few questions to get more of an idea of their desires for a design. I then proceeded to create a design that the customer could see come to life before their eyes. I have experience in setting up and configuring many computer hardware equipment including scanners, plotters/cutters and eight color large format printers, epilog 2D lasers, RIP software and digital cameras and related equipment. Many of the companies I have worked for as computer graphic artist made use of any of six different printing methods-I had to produce art that could be compatible with any of those methods. I memorized and was able to identify the name of over 500 fonts and lettering styles used in the company’s computer system. At times I performed maintenance of the computer databases of artwork for future retrieval and or modification. I also designed new artwork-which was used in company promotional catalogs for national distribution. As many newer graphic artists came onboard I trained them in graphic software and related programs to producing graphic designs. Many times I acted as liaison between the art department - customer service department - and customer in regard to artwork feasibility and printing quality. Also I have designed many webpage banners for various charitable organizations. I have had opportunities where I was asked to enhance or retouch photos using photo-paint type software to bring out details or objects not seen/captured by the naked eye. As computer-laser technician utilized two LMI-2100SE laser-etching machines driven by CorelDraw software. I was selected for this job because of my extensive knowledge of the graphics program. In this job I arranged and engraved two-dimensional artwork by computer onto the various pieces to be laser-etched and guarantee that the etching is of proper quality. This etching was completed on glass, wood, marble and metal surfaces. I developed an etching set-up process, which reduced waste in the etching process. I also made use of 3D laser equipment, which etches three dimensional graphic designs and images inside pieces of clear crystal without scratching or marring the surface.

I have an online portfolio through the LINKED-IN website - www.linkedin.com/pub/ralph-hays/39/5a0/865 As group home care staff I worked with and assisted many adults with developmental and physical impairments. This occurred with day-to-day living skills, personal hygiene, and personal support at this state licensed community based residential facility (CBRF). Mandatory state record-keeping and full documentation was also important to record occurrences, actions, and progress of the residents in my care. In addition I was there to interact with the residents in a positive way by being a positive role model and care-giver. I also was a transport driver when needed to bring clients to appointments or personal shopping trips. I was given the chance to be a senior staff at a newer home. At this newer home I was given more autonomy in dealing with the client/residents. Many vendors came to know me by name and had full confidence in the accomplishment of this job. I had some authority to train and involve new staff in home operation and practices. As claim call center representative – I handled incoming telephone calls from many states on new insurance claims and/or related or unrelated problems. I provided responses to the callers by referring them to an appropriate claim adjuster or direct company accountability. I provided computer documentation of problem calls for timely resolution by interested parties. Communicated by phone and email with clients, claimants, vendors, field force, and other internal resources to gather information and direct an appropriate response for the situation at hand. * I also volunteered, developed, and created new training curriculum using projection graphics to new employees using MS PowerPoint and Windows operating system.
