Capstone Project, Florida Atlantic University Fall 2015 – Spring 2016

Senior Design Project Overview: The Rapidly Deployable Rescue Vehicle, a remote control and semi-autonomous surface vessel to assist in the rescue of potentially drowning victim. The RDRV won the Best Project Award at the FAU Senior Design Showcase in the Ocean Engineering department.

Duties:

•Working as part of a 6-person team, I was responsible for the electrical work. This involved learning a circuit design program called PCAD. I researched past projects and component data sheets to develop the necessary circuits essential for the project.

•Responsible for soldering the motherboard together with numerous small components.

•Validation and testing throughout construction phase and in-water testing when the majority of the system had been integrated.

•Ensured the RF control functioned appropriately as well as thrust, speed, and stability.

•Oversaw the autonomous testing phase which involved calibrating the digital compass and tuning the PI controller that my team utilized.

•Assisted other team members putting the system together and troubleshooting key areas including speed, nozzle adjustments and erroneous data.

Employment History:

Gulfstream Goodwill Industries, Vero Beach, FL Jan 2017 – Present Position: Supervisor

Duties:

•I lead a of group of people, the majority of whom have disabilities, to complete tasks at Lambeth Groves juice plant.

•These tasks involve pressure washing 55 gallon drums, dumping and filling juice in those drums, and bottling/boxing juice.

•I instruct my crew how to complete required roles with the objective of guiding them to successful, independent lives.

•I maintain payroll, give verbal and written correctives which may lead to probation or termination, as well as paperwork necessary for our tasks at Lambeth Groves.

Sogreah Gulf - Artelia Group, Dubai, UAE Summer 2014 Position: Intern

Duties:

•During my internship, I worked primarily on tidal hydrodynamic studies, creating and validating computer models on multiple project sites on the coast of Dubai in the U.A.E.

•Working as part of an international team, I learned a new GIS program, BlueKenue, to prepare two computer models of coastal regions mapped to the local bathymetry under the supervision of the lead coastal engineer.

•Responsible for refining the triangular meshes to use efficient spatial resolution, and sought guidance from engineers in the company with experience creating these models on areas with narrow channels or intricate island chains.

•I extracted tidal and current data from specific points, aligned this information with real world data acquired by the company and validated models used in coastal construction projects.
