Experience Heritage Health Prize June 2011
Improving Health Care Project -June 2012
I worked with a group of students from California
State University East Bay on the Heritage Health
Prize contest. We were given raw data that had been
collected through the last 3 years and had to analyze
the data to see if we could predict who would be use
health care in the following year. This gave me
experience using multiple forms of analysis (logistic
regression, survival analysis, ANOVA, etc.) and in
manipulation of data
California State University East Bay September
Statistic Classes, Hayward, CA 2010
I received my Masters of Science degree from - June
California State University East Bay. The classes 2012
covered how to use multiple programs (Focusing on SAS
and R) to analyze data sets and create final reports.
The classes also covered how to interpret the outputs
of the code and what those results would mean for
companies. On the other side, they also covered how
statistics worked mathematically. Exposing us to the
mathematical side of how the programs work. They
also had us work by hand what the programs gave us.
This gave us a deeper understanding of the techniques
used.
Humboldt State University August
Mathematical Classes, Arcata, CA 2008
- June
I received my bachelor's degree in Pure Mathematics 2010
from Humboldt State University in 2010. This gives
me a unique background most statistics graduates do
not have. I have the highly analytical mathematical
molded mind that allows me to see situations from a
point of view that most other statistic graduates
don't have the opportunity to see from. It also
exposed me to programming in LaTeX, Mathematica, and
Matlab. Programs not included in most statics
programs.
Alpine Animal Hospital June 2005
Veterinary Clinic, South Lake Tahoe, CA - October
2012
I started working at the local animal clinic right
out of high school and worked my way up through the
company. I started off as a kennel assistant being
responsible for arriving early to walk the dogs,
cleaning their runs, and administering medication as
needed. As I became more competent with these
responsibilities I started being trained as an
assistant for the nurses and doctors. I was now
responsible for cleaning instruments, holding animals
for blood draws, packing surgical packs,
assassinating with radiographs, and cleaning
laboratory equipment. Once I had these skills
mastered I was moved to the pharmacy. Here I learned
how to read blood tests, room patients for doctors,
answer phones, clean laboratory equipment, fill
medications, call in medications that we don't fill,
answer phones, book appointments, as well as help the
nurses and doctors in the back as needed.
Now I am on call with Alpine for when a coworker
wants vacation time. I can fill in any position in
the company and am well versed as a team player as
well as extremely adept at multitasking. I was
welcomed back to the company during vacation time
when I was away at school. Now I am looking for more
of a career job.
