Duties
Initiate and complete onsite inspections of various workplaces to include; construction, general
industry locations, maritime facilities, and OSHA partnership sites.
Evaluate employer Safety and Health program, and make necessary recommendations.
Recommend a variety of hazard abatement to employers.
Process complaints received from employers, concerned citizens, and employee representatives.
Assist employers with hazard abatement and general safety and health concerns.
Appropriately cite the correct standard for hazards observed on work sites.
Apply the general duty clause when an appropriate standard does not exist in the Code of Federal
Regulations.
Respond to fatalities, catastrophes, and complaints.
Participate in outreach programs.
Conduct interviews of employers and employees.

Prepare and complete inspection case files and complaints.
Review co-worker case files in the absence of the Assistant Area Director.
Conduct and complete Informal Conferences.
Provide compliance assistance to employees, employers, and citizens in the wake of national
disasters.

Served as the lead investigator for four Significant Cases.
Participated in outreach programs and employer assistance after Hurricane Ike and Isaac.
Assisted with the registration of the Latino Summit in 2010.
Provided Safety and Health assistance to BP and contractors after the BP Deep Water Horizon oil

I originally started as a nuclear cruise missile mechanic for the US Air Force. These duties included:
general aerospace maintenance, overhead hoist operation, active electronic assembly and
disassembly, chemical safeguards, daily equipment inspection, electronic safeguards, maintenance
bay safeguards, CPR training, ongoing safety training and implementation, electrical safety training,
fire hazard training, safety data recording and updating, OSHA standards, flight line safety training
and correspondence, nuclear safeguards and operational hazard training, hazardous material
handling and safeguards, personal safety records management and upkeep, attended and
conducted daily safety meetings, maintained and ensured all support equipment was operational
and to standard. I was selected to cross flow into the electronics calibration maintenance
organization. These duties included: calibration and maintenance of cruise missile support
equipment, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, daily safety equipment inspection, personal
and personnel safety training and records upkeep, CPR training, chemical safety training,
hazardous material training and awareness training, pressurized gas handling and safety,
pressurized liquids handling and safety, live electronic open-drawer maintenance and safety, circuit
anomaly diagnosis and repair, implementation and maintenance of the 6S (sort, standardize, shine,
sustain, stabilize and safety) this program basically created a more safe and productive work
environment through the means of cleanliness and standardization.
