published.
AREAS OF EXPERTISE:
. AC/DC Theory Technical Research Schematic/Blueprint
Reading Troubleshooting
. Electrical Safety Preventative Maintenance
Electrical/Instrument Systems High Voltage Systems
. AC/DC Motors Teaching Electrical Theory AC/DC Motor Drive
Experience AC/DC Crane Control
EXPERIENCE:
Severstal Steel/RG Steel (Formally Bethlehem Steel - Sparrows Point)
Maintenance Manager - Tin Mill Products
. Analyzed many maintenance issues impacting production and implemented
several projects to mitigate these issues. Assisted in the
reorganization the department to utilize skills of managers.
. Assisted in the reduction of department safety accidents in 2011by
over 60% compared to 2010.
. On several separate occasions in different areas of the plant which
had been catastrophically down for days (possibly months), restored
operations using nonconventional troubleshooting skills.
. Served as assistant Division Manager of Tin Operations.
Mittal Steel/Severstal Steel (Formally Bethlehem Steel - Sparrows Point)
Manager Plant Reliability Engineering
. Initiated the plant reliability program. Utilized Microsoft Project to
pinpoint critical path for repair outages reducing downtime and
determining craft manpower requirements. Produced production and delay
trend charts to analyze and determine the top issues causing mill
delays. Produced maintenance performance charts to help determine the
success of repair outages. Utilized FMEA to pinpoint root causes of
delays. Use 5 week ahead scheduling for maintenance daily work
planning.
. Hired 20 graduate engineers (mechanical and electrical) set up
training program and placed them into various plant assignments.
. Served as assistant to the Division Manager of Central Crafts, Mobile
Equipment and Mechanical and Electrical Shops.
Bethlehem Steel/Mittal Steel - Sparrows Point
Facilities Engineering Manager - Cold Rolled Products
. Created monthly trend charts for operations and maintenance including
Pareto Impacts to reduce mill downtime.
. Reorganized the engineers and maintenance personnel for more
efficiency to the operation.
. Instrumental in distributing and rerouting power loads when a major
power transformer failed to keep operations running the next day. It
was estimated the mill would be down for several weeks.
. Spearheaded in the assembling of all North American users of Siemens
GTO drives to enable sharing of spare parts and ideas to prevent
future catastrophic shutdowns. This equipment is obsolete and spare
parts are costly.
Bethlehem Steel - Sparrows Point
General Foreman - Many areas with separate time periods: Pennwood Power
House/Hot Strip Mills/Rod Mill/
Motor Repair Shop including Air Conditioning/Cold Sheet
Mill
. Supervised Electrical, Mechanical, Fuel and Steam personnel at the
powerhouse. Monitored plant power demand and determined the shutdown
of plant processes to save on plant utility costs.
. Supervised Electrical. Mechanical, Electronics, Instrumentation
Maintenance personnel in several mill areas and personally solved many
motor, motor control, microprocessor control issues throughout the
plant.
. Headed up project on a 5 stand cold reducing tandem mill to install
modern control stations and microprocessor (programmable controller)
which dramatically reduced mill delays.
. Supervised Electrical, Mechanical personnel repairing large electro-
magnets, water pumps, air compressors, crane parts and assemblies,
motors and generators (AC/DC), refrigeration equipment, etc.
Bethlehem Steel - Sparrows Point
Electrical Engineer
. Estimated, procured, installed, tested, troubleshot AC/DC drives and
mill control including regulators and programmable controllers
throughout plant.
. Responsible for over 500 overhead travelling cranes performing
extensive work modernizing crane controls and developing new plant
specifications.
. Participated in the Bethlehem Management Loop training program.
