Senior Design Project: 2011 CAFE Green Flight Challenge (01/10-06/10)

Worked in a group of five students to design an airplane to compete in the 2011 CAFÉ Green Flight Challenge. The goal of the competition was to design an airplane that could achieve the highest score based on a combination of flight speed, fuel efficiency, and number of passengers. Optimized score by selecting the best configuration of size, materials, and design choices to minimize drag. Selected the airfoil by finding the optimum drag/lift ratio at the given flight condition. Developed cost estimates of building the airplane based on the aircraft's design and materials. Organized team meetings so that all members would be able to attend.
