OBJECTIVE:
• To obtain an industrial engineer position in simulation, optimization, lean manufacturing, supply
chain management or logistics.
EDUCATION:
• Master of Science in Industrial Engineering; Overall GPA- 3.71/4.0; Graduated: December, 2011
Bradley University, Peoria, IL.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering; Overall GPA- 3.52/4.0; Graduated: May, 2009.
GITAM University, Visakhapatnam, India.
•
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Currently working as an Industrial Engineer at Caterpillar, East Peoria, Illinois (Feb 2012- Till
date).
PROJECTS:
Campus-wide simulation study of track type tractor production operations
• Business Problem: There was no comprehensive tool for testing potential improvement changes
on the shop floor and their effect on upstream and downstream operations.
• Solution: Developed a Simulation tool of the entire facility to enable MEs to try different what if
scenarios easily with minimum programming.
• Results: Reduced manufacturing lead time, inventory, downtimes, and identified optimum
number of forklifts, stations, operators, AGVs, buffer sizes and replenishment rates.
Saved about $2 Million/year with an estimated ROI of at least 10:1.
Machine Scheduling Optimization
• Business Problem: Running different models of Track Roller Frames on the available 6 Machine
Centers was random and every week parts are sent to Peak Shavers to meet the demand, driving
up costs.
• Solution: Developed a genetic algorithm to find the optimum sequence and schedule of parts to
be run on each machine, considering the constraints.
• Results: When the tool was deployed the projected savings were $300,000 to $500,000 annually
with an estimated ROI of 10:1 to 15:1.
Manufacturing Line Optimization for Mini Hydraulic Excavators (Athens, Georgia)
• Business Problem: Company was planning a new facility in Georgia to produce Mini Hydraulic
Excavators.
• Solution: Developed an interactive spreadsheet tool with Monte Carlo simulation and a
Simulation Model to find the Optimum number of Operators, Machines, Robots and buffer sizes.
Common process for D6 Tractor Chassis Manufacturing
• Business Problem: Five facilities each followed different methods for Manufacturing Tractor
Chassis. Operating costs varied significantly between facilities.
• Solution: Developed Simulation Model of each process that predicts operating costs given key
scenario variables.
• Results: Project on-going.
Worked as a “Technical Engineer” in John King USA Inc. at East Peoria, Illinois (Oct 2011- Jan
2012).
• Duties include designing, modifying and drafting dimensions of hubs, sprockets, chains and
Conveyor links using AutoCAD.
• Analyzing past data of sales and planning economic order quantity for sub-contracting.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Statistical Packages: Minitab, statistical analysis using Microsoft Excel.
Simulation Software: FlexSim, Pro Model, Tecnomatix Plant Simulation and AnyLogic.
Logistical software Analysis: LINGO, LINDO, Win-QSB, POM-QM.
Design Software: Teamcenter Engineering, AUTOCAD, Factory CAD, Pro-E.
Programming Skills: C Language, SQL Commands using Access.
Office Tools: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
