Care Units (NICU, ICCU, PICU, SICU), Medical-Surgical Ward with Isolation,

Hemodialysis, Obstetric-Gynecology Ward, Labor and Delivery, Pediat ric Ward, Nursery

Room, Outpatient Department, Rehabilitation Unit, Physical Therapy, Occupational

Operating Rooms. I ts rooms re operated according to the degree of contamination; Room I is

for clean contaminated cases, Room I I for Ortho Cases, Room I I I for all minor cases

D U T I ES AND RESPONSIB I L I T I ES:

Scrub Nurse

• Maintain a clean and orderly operative field.

• Prepares the theater in every procedure for all the equipments and instruments and

other materials to be used and needed

• Assist in preparation, positioning of the patient

• Offering of gowns, gloves to surgeons and assist.

• Assist in draping of the patient.

• Assist the surgeon during the operation and ready to furnish the surgeons with the

r ight kind of instruments at any particular instant.

• Maintains correct counts of instruments, sharps and sponges with the circulating

n urse and reports for correctness and discrepancies, as set up in the standard policy

and procedure.

• Maintains awareness of safety hazards and safety instruments, sharps to prevent

damage or harm to personnel and to the patient.

• Rendered post operative care to the patient.

• Proper disposing of used sponges, needles and sharps in assigned container.

• Perform meticulous house keeping in theater by wiping horizontal surface with

d isinfectant.

Circulating Nurse

• Receive and identify patient at the receiving area

• Review pre-operative checklist and examine if all the pre-operative procedure have

been accomplished.

• Coordinates and provides nursing care to assigned patient according to physician’s

and anesthesiologist’s orders and in conformance with established standards and

hospital policies.

• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care of assigned patients.

I dentifies potential and actual problems, plans interventions, performs planned

i nterventions and evaluates outcomes.

• Modifies care as needs change. Ini tiate immediate t reatment such as applying non-

invasive monitoring devices if required.

• Explains procedures to the patient and or teaches the patient how to deal with the

result of the surgery.

• Obtains, checks set up and position supplies, instruments and equipment required

for surgery, ensuring that instruments and equipments are in working order, report

i nstruments/equipment in need of repair.

• Counts supplies and instruments before and after surgery. Handling instructions of

special instruments and occupational health and safety regulations.

• Acts as an advocate to protect and promote the patient’s r ight to autonomy, respect,

p rivacy, dignity and access to information.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

P rovides Nursing care to patients within operating room according to established

s tandards and administrative policies and procedures. Assesses patients physical and

psychosocial needs; identifies problems, plans, implements, documents, evaluates and

coordinates the nursing care of assigned patients and performs scrubbing and circulating

d uties.
