Technical Work:

5/12 - Present Caradigm Telecommuter

Experience Senior Clinical Informaticist - Engineering Organization

Caradigm workstream lead and liaison to Geisinger Health Plan

(GHP) on the requirements gathering and design for the CareManager

logical data model and terminology.

Analyzed the HL7v2 mapping of the Amalga 3.0 Common Entities.

Extended the Amalga 3.1 Common Entities with new entities and

attributes required to support integration with the CareManager

application currently in development in cases where standards like

HL7v2 support did not exist.

Analyzed customer provided clinical and claims feeds for the

validating the required Amalga 3.0 and 3.1 common entities. Feeds

were both standards based (e.g.: HL7v2, IHE XDS messages with

HL7v3 CDA documents) and custom feeds for claims and

authorizations derived from GHP's enterprise data warehouse

(EDW).

Provided education and guidance on data modeling, terminology, and

reference standards to the engineering program manager and

developer teams.

Senior Clinical Informaticist - eHealth Organization

Created the initial methodology for identifying GHP's care

coordination workflows and translating the specifications for

implementation using Java Business Process Manager (JBPM) and the

Drools rules engine where decision support was required.

Created a data dictionary of requirements for the GHP Accountable

Care Organization (ACO) joint-developed product with Caradigm and

proposed the initial conceptual model for the Population Health

Management System (PHMS) application intended to support this

solution. The data model included both clinical and financial

domains (e.g.: claims, authorizations)

Collaborated with Healthcare IT innovators (CIOs, CMIOs, MD's) to

architect interoperability solutions which connect healthcare

provider's internal systems and communities using GE's Healthcare

Information Exchange (HIE) and eHealth solutions.

Assisted in systems-architecting the HIE/eHealth integration for

the following GE HIE customers: Keystone HIE (KeyHIE), Inova

Health Systems, Wake Forest University Medical Center (WFUBMC),

Provided pre-sales support to eHealth sales executives responding

prototype HIE interoperability scenarios in the exchange of

Supported the creation of clinical and business relevance to

upstream marketing requirements for ePrescribing, secure

messaging, and security policies in the development of GE

Healthcare's eHealth health information exchange (HIE) solution.

Worked with Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center (WFUBMC)

to determine clinical workflows and usability requirements for

enabling the exchange of allergy data between inpatient and

outpatient clinical information systems.

Gathered requirements and generated clinical use cases for one of

GE's Centricity Device Interface (CDI) component which enabled the

flow of medical device data into nursing flow sheets. Created a

competitor matrix of medical device integration vendors as a

reference for analyzing the medical device market space and

identifying CDI product gaps.

Provided systems design recommendations for projects which

included improving the transmission of Picture Archiving and

Communications Systems (PACS) medical images to remote branch

locations using wide-area application services (WAAS). Assisted

in the creation of security marketing content and HIPAA security

compliance solutions for the healthcare provider. Supported the

Mobile Care 2.0 solution, which included integration of Cisco's

wireless voice over IP (VoIP) solution with nurse call and patient

monitoring systems.

Created an initial technical architecture proposal for an on-site

ambulatory care clinic within Cisco's San Jose headquarters

campus.

Provided advisory support to Cisco alliance partners in creating

RFP responses for the National Health Information Network (NHIN).

Proposed how Cisco's Application-Oriented Networking (AON)

solution can be used to integrate multiple clinical applications

and clinical data exchange standards such as HL7 and DICOM for

improved clinical workflows.

Advised Cisco account teams on the adoption of Cisco's nurse call

integration solution. Hospitals consulted include: Boston

Medical Center, West Tennessee Healthcare, and University of

Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)

Lead technical architect for Cisco's Clinical Connection Suite,

extending nurse call and patient monitoring capabilities for

alerting nurses and other healthcare attendants over wireless IP

phones. Demonstrated the nurse call wireless VoIP solution at the

HIMSS 2004 conference in Orlando, FL.

Created sales force technical positioning on VoIP application

development interfaces that enabled the creation of 3rd party

applications over Cisco's IP Telephony infrastructure. Presented

and taught hands-on workshops at multiple Cisco conferences for

audiences of up to 200 attendees on designing, developing, and

configuring Cisco Computer Telephony Interface (CTI) applications

over an enterprise IP Telephony-enabled infrastructure
