PROFESSIONAL EXPER IENCE
Mactec Packaging Technologies, Sayreville, NJ P resent
D esign Consultant responsible for design & development of thermoforming machines use in packaging
solid dose, ampoules and liquid filled blisters. Currently working on a coffee filling line to make a "private
l abled" single serve capsule for Keurig K-Cup Brewer.
• Designed the section that insert and seal the fil ter in the capsule prior to coffee filling
operation.
Johnson & Johnson Consumer Company R &D Worldwide, Skillman, NJ
2005 to 2012
Senior Engineering Fellow for Product R esearch G roup responsible for Feminine Menstrual pad,
panty liner and tampon development and product improvement. Provided scientists with technical
k nowledge supporting the creation of new products that are machine manufacture able. Developed"proof
of principle" prototypes that shows how the product will be made. Design electro-mechanical components
for the research test machine to manufacture new or improvement product. Provide drawings to machine
shops for fabrication and assembly. Role entail participation in all product specification discussions with
scientist, initiate design concepts of the prototype components, maintain progress for fabrication and
assembly, installation and development of new component on the research test machine and finally
p rovide machine manufactured samples at full manufacturing speed for consumer test.
• Designed and developed new components on the research machine that removed fibers
s ticking out ofeach end of the tampon. Increased customer satisfaction with better looking
p roduct than the completion's.
• Generated drawings and documentations which enabled machine shop to fabricate
component kits to retrofit all 135 manufacturing machines worldwide.
• Designed and developed a press station that compressed tampon with wavy grooves. This
p ress enabled the research machine to produce machine made improved product for ongoing
consumer testing.
• Developed the process to manufacture anew tamponand designed prototypes that
demonstrated how differentmanufacturing steps will work on the production machine.
T urned over learning to a machine builder to design and build the machine. Evaluated and
approved their work from design, fabrication and installation. Completed int roduction of a
new tampon to the customer on the scheduled t ime period.

Johnson & Johnson Consumer Company Central E ngineering Worldwide, Skillman, NJ
P rinciple Design Engineer for Central E ngineering g roup responsible for Feminine Menstrual pad,
panty liner and tampon manufacturing. Responsible for equipment, process and cost improvement for
p lants worldwide. Role entailed conception of manufacturing process, machine design, fabrication,
development, installation, start-up and t raining. Preparation of cost estimate, schedule, specs and
acceptance criteria of assemblies for outside contractors. Coordinate and supervised design support
personal in the preparation of drawings. Maintain progress of designs, fabrication and assembly.
• Designed and developed dual lane Panty Liner machines, a new technology, which make
l iner at 2,000 pads/min, resulting in an increased productivity of 400%. Key process is
patented.
• Designed, fabricated and developed new Panty Liner machines, a multi-million project in
record time of 9 months for worldwide product launch.
• Installed and developed the interface between an old Panty Liner Makers to a commercial
t r i-folder and wrapper resulting to expanded product line.
• Designed, fabricated and developed a "Maxi Thin"Menstrual pad packaging machine that
collated and insert folded and wrapped pads into cartons. This machine increased
p roductivity 10X by replacing a manual operation, and reduced cost by replacing two
manual packers.
• Redesigned conveyor system on the "Stayfree" pad machines. These changes put process
development back on schedule when i t fell behind. Product launch was done on schedule.
• Converted and developed "Commercial Vender's" machines to run a different pad product.
E nhanced profitabili ty by reducing capital investment.
• Converted "Commercial Vender's" machines to make "Stayfree" pads with cuffed wings.
E nhanced profitabili ty by reducing capital investment and expanded product line. Process
patented.
• Developed a compacted automatic wing release splicer that replaced a manual operation.
I ncreased productivity 25% because machine does not stop during material change.
• Designed & developed butt slicers for rolled materials. Reduced cost by saving the material
lost to web overlap during standard splice, with a butt splice, where the start of the new
material is butted to the end of the previous roll.
Johnson & Johnson Products Company, North Brunswick, NJ
Senior Design Engineer for the National Equipment Design group responsible for designing equipment,
p rocess development and cost improvement to manufacturing plants which makes patient ready products
to doctors and hospitals. Developed skills of machine design from parts list documentation, detailing,
design layout, machine and process development.
• Designed a machine that rejects bottle from a filling line with missing cap. Removing this tedious
chore from the process reduced cost of operation and raised efficiencies.
• Designed a "Drain Sponge" machine that produced individually wrapped, sterilized gauze sponge.
I ncrease productivity by automating the manual process and increased productivity by 50%
• Designed a "Burn" Bandage machine that produced individually wrapped, sterilized pad with burn
healing cream. Increased productivity by automating the manual process and increased
p roductivity by 50%
• Designed a "Bar rier" machine that produced individual wrapped "w-folded" and sterilized plastic
l aminate paper pad used in abdominal surgery. This replaced the older machine and increased
p roductivity by 100%.
• Identified, purchased, and installed equipment used by contract manufacturer in Mexico to
p roduce individually wrapped and sterilized towels used in operating rooms.
• Designed Cotton Swab machine that wraps 2 swabs together, replacing a manual process.
I ncreased productivity by 100%.
