Parkland Outpatient Clinic (COPC)
Completion of final internship for doctoral degree: Sept 2004 to May
2005. Interned at Parkland Outpatient Clinics. Daily crisis
management, inpatient referrals, referrals to community services,
individual therapy, group therapy, pain management group, smoking
cessation group "Quit Smart". I worked with different types and levels
of professional staff as necessary. This was my favorite placement,
because I was able to see many clients through a full course of
therapy-from initial intake to formulation and treatment planning,
implementation, and termination.
Children's Medical Center Outpatient/Day Treatment
May 2004 through August 2004
APA approved internship at Children's Medical Center Department of
Psychiatry. The unit serves children from 3 to 17. Worked with a
multidisciplinary team of teachers, social workers, and psychiatrists.
The children had every kind and intensity of psychiatric diagnosis.
Did group psychotherapy with children and parents. Supervised by
licensed psychologists.
Parkland Health and Hospital System: May 2003 through May 2004
APA approved internship at Parkland. Rotated through the Department of
Consult Liaison Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine, which serves the
various medicine, burn, and surgical units of Parkland Health &
Hospital Systems. Provided individual therapy, family therapy, patient
education, staff consultation, diagnostic assessment battery
construction, and treatment planning. Administered neuropsychological
and personality assessment on various services, including the
Inpatient, and Outpatient Psychiatry Units at both Parkland and Zale
Lipshy University Hospitals and on the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at
Parkland. Worked as part of a team of psychiatry residents, medical
students, and attending physicians; providing patient care and
presenting case conferences. Administered diagnostic interviews and
performed crisis intervention with individuals and families and taught
relaxation techniques to patients to help in pain management.

Comprehensive Adjustment Evaluation: August 2001 to September

Assessed consumers with amputations to determine the kind of
professional support needed. Evaluated personal characteristics,
competencies, skills, and support needs by using various tests. Wrote
comprehensive psychological reports.
Vocational Evaluation: August 2001 to December 2001
Assessed for vocational competencies. Administered, scored, and
interpreted a comprehensive assortment of test measures (see below).
Wrote all-inclusive reports. Recommended appropriate courses of action
for successful vocational rehabilitation. Exhibited proficient
utilization of the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, Guide to
Occupational Exploration, and Occupational Outlook Handbook.

Facilitated group sessions in which communication skills, vocational
issues, stress management, and setting goals were the primary issues

Amputee Group: May, 2002-September, 2002
Co-facilitated group processing with patients who had recently
undergone the amputation of limbs, in order to help with
rehabilitation, adjustment, and restoration of psychological well-
being. The group was psychoanalytically oriented.
Terrell State Hospital: May 2001 to August 2001
APA approved internship program, Child and Adolescent Unit. Adolescent
and children's group therapy for Anger Management, Borderline
Personality Disorder, Family Functioning, Working through Grief, and
Re-decision Therapy. Performed psychological evaluations incorporating
chart reviews, interview material, objective and projective measures,
and self-report measures. Conducted play therapy with psychiatric
inpatients.
UT Southwestern Psychotherapy Clinic: May 2001 to 2005
APA internship at student outpatient clinic. Provided weekly
individual and group counseling for adult patients, utilizing
cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic therapy. In September, 2004-
August, 2005 the focus was on existential therapy, treatment planning,
and formulation. From September, 2002- May, 2004 emphasis was on
psychoanalytic psychotherapy, emphasizing Jungian and Kleinian

Private Practice: (September 1996-August, 2000)
Established and maintained a part time private practice providing
developmentally based therapy to children with various disorders of
relating and communication, including children with cerebral palsy,
ADHD, mild mental retardation, learning disorders, conduct disorder,
pervasive developmental disorder, autism, early bipolar disorder, and
childhood schizophrenia. Intensive therapy was provided at first with
ABA methods for autistic spectrum disorders then shifted to
Developmental Individual Difference Relationship Based therapy after
training with Dr. Stanley Greenspan. Regularly consulted and
coordinated efforts with parents and treating psychiatrists.

More than 20 years performing all classroom duties in both full and
part-time positions, including developmental assessments and parent
feedback sessions for children from ages 3 through 14 in public,
private, parochial, and special needs schools in Virginia, Louisiana
and Texas.
