OBJECTIVE: My ultimate goal is to find a place where God can use the gifts, talents, and skills with which He has
blessed me to proclaim Christ. The need for discipleship within the Church is great, and the need to
reach those who don t know Jesus as personal Savior and Lord is greater. When asked if I would
prefer to be a Senior Pastor or an Associate Pastor of some kind, my only response is this: I would
like to proclaim the Good News of Christ to a lost world, to disciple those who have accepted Christ,
and to facilitate Kingdom living, regardless of audience or title.
I received God s Call into ministry in a Thursday night service of the General Assembly, 2005. I was
PERSONAL
INFORMATION: there as a spectator, having never attended a General Assembly before. Dr. Cunningham was the
speaker that evening, and during his sermon on giving all to God, I distinctly heard God tell me, That
is what I want from you. I want all of you. At that moment God entirely sanctified me. I received my
first local license at Brentwood First Church of the Nazarene in 2006. It was transferred to Nashville
First Church of the Nazarene (my family physicall y moved which made the commute to Brentwood
very difficult) in 2007. I received my district license through the Tennessee District in 2007 and it was
renewed in 2008. Because I was not able to complete the two course educational requirements due to
job pressures (my company was working me around 80 hours a week to facilitate a buyout), I am
once again only locally licensed by Nashville First Church of the Nazarene. Since receiving the Call, I
am serving as Sunday school teacher and have served as a praise team member, a choir member,
small group leader, a Caravan leader, a youth worker, and an audio/visual team member (slide shows
in church and running sound).
My wife, Tami Cook Owens, is a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University, with a BA in Business
Administration. She and I met in 1999 and were married in 2001. We have two boys, Asher (born in
2005) and Declan (born in 2008). I cannot say enough good about Tami. She is a source of strength
and encouragement, a Godly wife and mother, and my greatest human supporter. She grew up on
the mission field and is very comfortable with the use of the Spanish language. Some of her fondest
memories are of her childhood in the parsonage. I am blessed that she has such a rich heritage of
holiness. She is passionate about ministry and as the mother of two preschoolers is especially so
about children s ministries. She has served in almost every way imaginable in that arena.
Personally, when I have the free time to do so, I like to relax in the mountains. I enjoy reading, hiking
and camping with my family, and occasionally fly fishing. I have been interested and active in the
Martial Arts (Japanese and Okinawan Karate) throughout my life. I speak passable Spanish, having
studied it in Jr. High, High School, and College, though I am by no means what I would consider
fluent. I also enjoy tinkering with computers and audio equipment as well as spending time in my
f ather s shop working on various wood working projects. I also served as a volunteer leader with the
Cub Scouts as Den Leader and Cub Master prior to marrying Tami.

Almost all skills translate from the secular world to the sacred world at some level or another. I
CORPORATE
EXPERIENCE: have been a supervisor, manager, and mentor of others. I have al so been supervised, managed, and
mentored by others. W hile working for the last 15 years in corporate America, I earned many
certifications and awards. While self employed, I was a member of and later-elected President of a
Business Networking International chapter. Most of my work in information technology has been in
the healthcare industry, where there is an elevated need for security, confidentiality, and integrity, due
to the highly regulated and very personal, sensitive nature of the information managed.
