Warning Coordination Meteorologist Supervisor: John Livingston
Plan, coordinate, and implement an ambitious awareness/education program for the public, core NWS
customers, media partners and specialized users. Serve as the principal interface between the WFO and
the users of NWS products and services. Work closely with local, county, and state emergency
management officials and agencies to ensure a planned, coordinated, and effective preparedness effort.
Recent Accomplishments:
Initiated "Weather-of-the-Week web-based briefings in October 2007 for key partners and media
using GoToMeeting software. The weekly briefing is held every Monday (or the next business day,
if a holiday) at 2pm. During periods of active weather, WFO Spokane increases the frequency of its
web-based briefings to several times a week if not daily;
Developed and initiated special multi-media web briefings using Camtasia Studio that features
closed captioning for the hearing impaired;

Helped to recruit 120 new spotters since 2006 and worked with a fellow forecaster to initiate a
Spotter Network Achievement Program (SNAP) and pocket spotter guide;
Oversee activities of the Hazardous Weather Working Group, whose latest effort is the
establishment of an Excessive Heat Advisory through a collaborative effort with regional health
experts;

and local agencies. WFO Albuquerque has responsibility for the northern two-thirds of New Mexico;
among the largest and most diverse forecast areas in the U.S.

One of 20 forecasters selected for the 2004 North American Monsoon Experiment (NAME)

Produced aviation and short-term weather forecast products; collected, quality controlled and monitored
hydrometeorological data; continued professional development through operational training shifts and
participation in station drills and seminars on mesoscale and synoptic meteorology. While a student
trainee, served as the primary observer for the Forecast Systems Lab's (FSL) committee that evaluated the
operational use of the Interactive Computer Worded Forecast (pre-ICWF) Software.
