Custom Engineering
Jun 1975 - Oct 1980
Engineering Designer
. Just out of army, started as Sheet metal supervisor doing press brake
setups and actually manufacturing the enclosures for oil field skid based
gensets. Majority of these units went to Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, they
were built for Cat engines and mostly we used Kato generators with
integral fuel tanks.
. Transitioned into the drafting department and soon was the sole
designer; we built some specialty units that had sound attenuation
packages for hospital applications and other apps that required lower
sound db ratings. These applications brought new challenges to constrain
sound from the genset as well as allow enough air flow for cooling and
this was a great learning development role for me as well as doing the
designs themselves. Made several smaller trailer sized units for military
apps for Israeli armed forces. All this work was done on the board.
