Sytems Software Products Division.
Project Title: Sales Order Processing System - (S.O.P.S)
Platform/Tools: Paradox - 5 for Windows, Delphi for key entry screens
and processes Client: Software Products Marketing Group of Wipro
Infotech Group
Bangalore, India Period: October '94 to August '95
Description: Development of a Sales Order Processing System to
automate and integrate the operations of the Software Products
Marketing Division comprising the Head Office located at Bangalore and
six Regonal Offices with a 60 reseller national network. This system
would track orders coming in from various clients routed through the
dealer/channel network and maintain a virtual stock master which would
be updated online to give an exact picture of the actual stocks in the
Inventory. Shortfalls would be detected when fastmoving stocks touch a
minimum stock level and raise warnings to the respective product
managers to raise Indent through the system. The SOPS system also
incorporated an Inventory manager to track all movement of stocks
between warehouses besides adhoc transfers Purchase Orders to the
respective Principals could also be raised and material receipts would
be taken into stock on hand. The system also incoporated a host of MIS
reports to calculate incentives for Resellers and Marketing Executives
who achieved their predetermined targets. SOPS also generated batch
process reports on product costing and Stock registers for statistical
purposes and Audits. The system integrated the operations of all
Offices in the country using electronic data transfer and thus saving
on redundant data entry.
Position: Systems Engineer Contribution:
Design and Development of the various modules of the project,
interacting with the various departments and Regions and integrating
the operations. I was also responsible for testing of the system and
maintenance of the system, implementation and bug fixing &
documentation. Team Size: Three. Currently working on Oracle to
convert the above system to a Client Server configuration with Oracle
as Back-end and Delphi as the front end (1.5 months).
