Garland County Industrial Development Commission, 1989-1994. Board of Directors. Was directly responsible for securing a $2 million building located adjacent to the Hot Springs Municipal Airport to develop local jobs and industry for Hot Springs. Paid $425,000 for it and gave the corporate donor a charitable tax break for the remaining assessed value.

Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, 1988-1994. Member of the Chamber's Sister City Committee. Responsible for securing Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture, Japan as Hot Springs' first Sister City. Signed the ceremonial agreement in January, 1992 after leading all the negotiations required to complete the agreement both in Japan and in Hot Springs. Led the first official delegation to Hanamaki City and participated in all the protocol and discussions representing the City of Hot Springs. Gave all the official speeches and media interviews for press, magazine, television and radio. Received extensive coverage throughout Japan.

Quapaw Community YWCA, 1983-1990. Board Member and President. Led the Board's effort to raise $400,000 to completely renovate the facility and establish a full childcare and Nanny Training Institute program coordinated with the local Garland County Vocational-Technical College.

Arkansas School for Mathematics and Sciences, 1992-1994, Facility CommitteeChair. It has now expanded to include the "Arts." Responsible for applying to the Arkansas State Board of Education and competing against five other cities for the ASMS location in Hot Springs. Was successful in acquiring a vacant downtown hospital for the school's location and warded off the political pressures to move the school away from Hot Springs. As Mayor of Hot Springs, was also responsible for securing the necessary public funding to complete the $3.5 million dollar renovation project when the local private civic group failed to raise enough money to complete the project. I pushed through a nine month, half cent city sales tax increase with a special city election vote to complete the facilities renovation project on time and on budget.

Friends of the Fordyce, Inc., 1987-1992. Charter Board Member. Responsible for planning for and raising $100,000 for the Grand Opening Weekend for the Hot Springs National Park Fordyce Bathhouse Visitors Center. Special guests included United States Senators Dale Bumpers and David Pryor, Governor Bill Clinton, Congressman Beryl Anthony and National Parks Director James M. Ridenour.

Hot Springs Main Street Program, 1984-1988. Board of Directors initiated the downtown renovation program to revitalize Hot Springs' business and economic climate.

Leadership Hot Springs, Class of 1989. Served as the subsequent speaker on city government for succeeding classes.

"Vision in Action Task Force: An Agenda for the New Hot Springs," 1986-1987. Chaired the first Hot Springs City Management Plan. It was established by the first Hot Springs Board of Directors elected in 1986 to revitalize the City and change its form of government from the Mayor/Alderman system to City Management. Vision in Action: Plan II was completed 1992-1993.

TheWilowe Institute symposium speaker in 1986, 1987, 1988. This was a leadership development institute for Arkansas established by Dorothy Stuck a visionary newspaper woman who currently lives in Hot Springs.

The Governor's Commission on Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas. Appointed by Governor Bill Clinton in 1991. Reappointed by Governor Jim Guy Tucker in 1993.

TheGovernor's Commission on Fire and Police Pension Review Systems. Appointed by Governor Jim Guy Tucker, 1993-1994.

Small Group Work Therapy, Inc. 1987-1997. Board of Directors, Secretary, Vice President, President. It is a non-profit corporation which provides residential homes and a work care facility for emotionally dysfunctional adults. Grew it from a $200,000 a year to a $2 million a year operation in 10 years.

Spa Independent Living Services, Inc. 1994-1997. Board member and Treasurer. This is a non-profit association dedicated to helping physically handicapped persons wishing to live independently.

Levi Hospital Hospice, 1990-1997. Charter Board Member.

Named the 1974 "Arkansas Young Career Woman" by the Arkansas Federation of Business and Professional Women.

Awarded the 1979 "School Bell Award" by the Hot Springs Classroom Teachers Association for the enhancement of the teaching profession.

Selected as the 1984 "Outstanding Woman of the Year" by the Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce.

Presented the 1986 "Volunteer of the Year" by the Quapaw Community YWCA.

Given the 1989 "Ouachita Job Corps Service Award" in honor of its 25th Anniversary Celebration.

Selected in 1992 by the Arkansas Business Newspaper as one of the "Top 15 Women in Business and Politics."

Given the 1994 Annual 96th Infantry Division "Our Kind of Girl" Award as the outstanding Division Auxiliary member for coordinating the 1994 National Reunion celebrating the 50th Anniversary of its World War II landing on Leyte Island under General Douglas McArthur. This project took three years of planning. Over 1,000 people attended in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Named as one of ten women members for the1990 Arkansas Peace Links Delegation. Traveled to Moscow and the Kabardin-Balkar Republic at the invitation of the Women's Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union to discuss pathways to peace between the United States and the Soviet Union.

Invited to the State of Nuevo Leon, Mexicoby Governor Socrates Rizzo in 1991 to negotiate and sign an Agreement of Friendship between the Presidential Home Cities of Agua Leguas and Hot Springs.

Selected by the German Embassy in Washington, DCto serve as one of 19 United Statesdelegates to the1994 Germany TodayProgram. Spent two weeks in June traveling through Bonn, Dresden, Frankfurt, and Berlin as the guest of the German government through its academic exchange program with the University of Bonn. The other 18 members selected me to be the delegation leader and speaker for the diplomatic duties required of the study group. The group was comprised of journalists, political liaisons, university level chancellors and deans, and presidents of national organizations. We were briefed extensively on political, cultural, educational and social issued facing Germany at that time. I also traveled an additional two weeks in the former East Germany accompanied by a US business diplomat to open business channels for Governor Jim Guy Tucker.

Returned to Berlin, Germany in September, 1994 representing Governor Jim Guy Tucker, toopen and dedicate theFirst International Arkansas Art Exhibit, which subsequently traveled throughout Europe for two years. I also attended the official "Grand Tattoo" torchlight parade commemorating the "1994 Withdrawal of the Allied Forces from Berlin" as a guest of the Lord Mayor of Berlin.
