EXPERIENCE

July 2001

PresentSenior Web ConsultantAG Consulting Group, LLC,

Houston, TX

I designed and developed the official website for AG Consulting Group, LLC, an

international public relations, government affairs and legal research agency.

The website is designed to provide information about the company and its

capabilities along with giving its users portal features such as search, maps,

weather, traffic and links.

The technologies utilized during this project are ASP, XML, XSLT, XHTML,

VBScript, JavaScript, CSS, SQL Server and VB. XML is used as the primary

content storage facility and all business objects will be coded using VB. The

website (www.agcgweb.com) was launched in September 2001. New features in

development are:

A mechanism allowing users to pick specific news they would like e-

mailed to them on a daily basis.

An administration interface so company employees can update portions of

the website they are responsible for.

A secure gateway leading to an Intranet and an Extranet for partners

and clients.

A bulk mailing system for sending the aforementioned news and marketing

materials to clients and site users.

Personalization features so users can decide what content they would

like to see and how.

August 2000

July 2001Senior Web Developer/ArchitectCaliber-One Management Company, Inc

., Yardley,

PA

Caliber One specializes in underwriting difficult and unique as well as new and

emerging risks. Caliber One underwrites both primary and excess casualty and

property business with special emphasis on aggressive problem solving and

innovative products.

My responsibilities and accomplishments at Caliber One are listed below:

I was a key member of the architecture team set up to completely

redefine the web application architecture methodology of the company. This

meant eliminating the client/browser intensive DHTML/RDS approach by migrating

to a true Windows DNA model with cleardistinction between all application

layers. The application architecture that was endorsed by me and implemented

by the team had the following characteristics:

Special emphasis was given to integrate XML and related technologies

(XSLT, XPath, Schemas, etc.) into all application tiers. XML, therefore,

became the only communication mechanism spoken by all application tiers.

Gained browser independence through the use of XSLT, XML with ASP on

the presentation layer.

Eliminated Visual J++ components by migrating to Visual Basic as the

chief component language.

Migrated to Windows 2000 and related technologies including COM+.

Some key components written in response to the DNA approach were the

user object for handling authentication and user security, database access

object and document generation object for creating office documents on the fly.

Positioned the architecture for an easy transition to the

Microsoft .NET initiative.

Chosen to be among a 3-person team assigned the task of developing a

plan to integrate the old Enterprise (ES) system to the new Windows DNA model

by slowly migrating and upgrading functionality as required.

I became the only developer assigned to migrate the companys website

(www.caliber-one.com) to the new architecture based on ASP, XML and XSLT with

new graphics and content.

Wrote the Decision Tree COM+ business object responsible for

determining if an application for EPLI insurance can be quoted through the on-

line system or does it have to be referred to an underwriter.

Took the lead in developing the presentation layer of their initial E-

Commerce initiative, Employer Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI), using ASP,

XML and XSLT in a frame metaphor making it very fast and easy to maintain.

This approach has been adopted for all future presentation layer development at

Caliber One.

Modified, upgraded and developed various modules of their Enterprise

System (ES), which automates the entire policy life cycle including

submissions, underwriting, quotations, policy issuance, endorsements, etc. The

ES is primarily a client/browser (IE) driven system utilizing ASP, HTML, DHTML,

RDS, ADO, VBScript, COM, VJ++ business objects and a SQL Server backend.
