EXPERIENCE:
Nine years experience as a UNIX Systems Administrator and Systems
Support on System V, HP-UX, and VAX/VMS 5.x systems within a CAD/CAM
manufacturing environment. Duties and responsibilities comprised of
the development and implementation of a Production, Development,
Database, Test, and Training servers as well as the installation and
support of over one hundred workstations and over two hundred
Xterminals. EMPLOYMENT HISTORY:
Electronic Data Systems
(EDS) - UNIX System AdministratorJanuary 1996
to present
. Installed, configured, and supported an HP-D350 9000
series Production server running on an HP-UX 10.10 operating system.
Disk configuration included three RAID 5 disk arrays configured with
mirrored HP Logical Volume Management. Implemented as master NFS and
NIS server. Installed and supported an HP-755 9000 workstation as a
Development server running on an HP-UX 9.07 operating system. Served
as slave server for NFS and NIS. Implemented as the license server for
all application products. Installed with an ORACLE database for use by
the development team. Installed, configured, and supported an HP-K400
8000 series server with an ORACLE 7.x database running on an HP-UX
10.20 operating system. Configured the HP disk arrays with HP LVM and
mirroring. Developed and tested recovery plans the ORACLE database.
Deployed a Legato/Networker tape `jukebox' backup system and
implemented procedures for full and incremental backups on all servers
and standalone workstations. Deployed and supported hundred twenty
HP-715, HP-720, HP-730, HP-750, HP-C110) 9000 series workstations, and
two hundred HP-700X and NCD Xterminals. Most seats were configured

. Installed a cluster configuration of an HP-UX 8.07
operating system with HP workstations and NCD Xterminals. Implemented
this Production system with MicroStation 4.0, AutoCAD 11.0,
WordPerfect 5.1, and Lotus123. The clustered workstations were mounted
to an HP-755 server using NFS and Automount. Participated in the
installation and deployment of the network system. The network was
strung using fiber and copper wire. Each office was equipped with two
or more data connections and routed through two junction closets.
Installation and development of Intergraph Clipper workstations in a
standalone configuration. An applications base system which ran
MicroStation 4.0, Intergraph EMS Solids Modeling, Intergraph plotting,
and some NFS mounts between workstations. UNIX System Support March
1988
to May 1994. Supported various CAD and system issue within the
engineering departments. These issues included MicroStation 3.x-4.x,
Intergraph IGDS/MGDS VAX based CAD, VAX MASS11, VAX Lotus, printer and
plotting of the CAD files, and the use of Intergraph/MicroStation EDG
graphics editor. Developed FORTRAN tools to enhance user performance
and throughput.
