RESEARCH CONTRIBUTIONS

1. Was part of the MIDS research team that carried out an evaluation of the Tamil Nadu

Indo-Swiss Sericulture Project, for the Department of Sericulture. Sponsored by the

Swiss Development Corporation. Was involved mainly with the survey and

investigation of the cooperatives. (1990)

2. Contributed a section on the groundwater potential in Tamil Nadu and its implications

for policy on energising agricultural pumps in the state, to the Report of the Working

Group on Power Tamil Nadu, submitted to the State Planning Commission. (1989)

3. Was part of the TERI research team that undertook a study to review the tariffs and

load management options for the Maharashtra State Electricity Board. Sponsored by

the World Bank. Prepared the Inception Report, spelling out the scope and

methodology of the study and made a presentation to MSEB officials on the rationale

for the methodology. Was involved in designing the questionnaires and selecting

appropriate samples in different consumer groups for a survey meant to study their

electric load patterns. (1989)

4. Carried out a survey of large industries in Haryana to analyse their daily load

patterns, load compositions and the role of captive generation, in order to ascertain

the feasibility of introducing time-differentiated pricing for load management.

Industrial Development Bank of India sponsored the study. (1989)
