2002-04 Assisted on a four-year Spencer-funded qualitative research
project entitled Learning to Teach Elementary Mathematics.
The goal of the project was to develop conceptual frameworks for
understanding teaching and learning in elementary mathematics
teacher education by studying how novice teachers developed their
craft as they progress through their initial teacher education
to their first two-years of teaching - Denise S. Mewborn, Ph.D.,
Principal Investigator.
--Engaged in all aspects of qualitative research: problem formation,
theory and methodology selection, data collection, data analysis,
and representation
2003/04 Initiated and co-developed and -facilitated a three
semester-hour graduate course entitled "The Social"
of Mathematics and Mathematics Teaching and Learning: An examination
of the social, political, economic, and cultural structures and
discourses as they relate to mathematics, mathematics teaching
and learning, and research in mathematics and mathematics teaching
and learning, including an analysis of how mathematics and mathematics
teaching, learning, and research are understood within various
social theoretical frameworks.
2000-02 Assisted on a three-year Eisenhower-funded project
entitled PRIME: Partnerships and Reform In Mathematics Education.
The goal of the project was to develop cooperatively an outstanding
model for preservice secondary mathematics teacher education -
