Dissertation:
Ph. D research project:
The research project titled Studies on antibiotic principles from some streptomyces
species involves purification and characterization of an antibiotic from streptomyces
californicus like column purification followed by preparative HPLC, spectral studies like
Mass, NMR and IR, under the able guidance of Prof. V. Kishan. Isolated an antibiotic
named Borrelidin, recently it has been focused for its anti-angiogenic property, first time
reporting borrelidin from streptomyces californicus. Studies involved enzyme metabolic
studies like CYP450, activity of our antibiotic against Mycobacterium tuberculosis,
Salmonella typhi and some other resistant strains. Also performed toxicity studies and
studies on smooth muscles and blood vessels.
