Mercyhurst College Writing Center, Erie, PA
As a writing tutor for the college, was responsible for helping students edit and revise their essays for various class assignments at any stage of writing process, from originating ideas to the final draft. The process usually consisted of reading over each essay and identifying any problem areas, including those with content, organization, word choice, tone, and grammar. Carefully and concisely explained these areas and worked with the student to correct mistakes within the thirty minute time limit.
Lumen (Mercyhurst College Literary Magazine), Erie, PA
Working as part of the editorial board, each member individually reviewed each creative work that was submitted for publication. Works included poetry, flash fiction, photography, and graphic design. The board also met several times as a group to discuss and evaluate the quality of each work before deciding which would appear in the magazine.
Individual works selected for both 2010 and 2011 editions.
Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains, Thetford, VT
Held the position of unit leader at a resident summer camp and was responsible for a group of ten to twenty Girl Scouts ranging in age from third through eleventh grade. As the unit leader, responsibilities extended not only to the scheduling of unit activities, major group decisions, and the safety of every girl, but also to the well-being of the unit assistant staff. Also worked as a lifeguard during swim times and was responsible for following safety rules and regulations of waterfront, including Lost Bather Drills and other emergencies procedures.
