In the school s student research colloquium, my senior year, I did research into glacial place names mapping, seeing if there were any geographicalpatterns of places that arenamed after glacial features inMinnesota. I chose Minnesota because it is my home state and
the landscape has been largely affected by glaciers. I looked up the places in gazetteers and used ArcGIS to locate the places by coordinates and overlay them on a Minnesota map layer. I had found that most of the places were in a close knit area in northeast Minnesotaand that area was really impacted by glacial effectsReceived the Excellence ScholarshipAward in Geography from The National Council for Geographic Education and Association of American Geographers.Got on the Dean s List in Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 semesters.
