Material Handler/Safety inspector September 2011-March 2012
BAE Systems, Kandahar, Afghanistan
Light mechanic on the U.I.K. project for the MRAP MATV modification combat support program. The upgrade primarily replaces the armored body pan of the vehicle and new protection and improvement pieces. Duties include disassembly of old belly armor and install new belly armor. Add new armor parts and stiffen suspension. Remove/reinstall air tanks and air system components. Remove seats and install new seats and interior modifications. Remove old shocks and install new air shocks. Support C4I personnel in tool issue and parts for gunner stand installation, remote weapon system and digit rack modification. Issue and recover power tools to mechanics working on U.I.K. project. Serve as safety inspector for site lead. Evaluate and recommend safety awareness issues, accident prevention, and accident/incident investigation. Give weekly safety briefs and conduct safety inspections of hazmat containment area and motor pool area.
