PROJECTS & Zephyr App Mobile data collection for schools with autistic students Summer
2012EXPERIENCE
Participated in a research project at CMU examining the effectiveness of using iPad
applications to collect and share data at schools for autistic students.
Worked as the only iOS developer on a team of 7 people.
Visited schools and interviewed teachers to get a better understanding of their
needs.
Designed and built an iPad application that allows users to record notes, photos, and
numerical data for an unlimited number of students.
The app lets you record several different kinds of numerical data, and it allows users
to easily graph this data.
iOS TRANSIT SIMULATION GAMEDecember 2010 - present
Created an iOS game that lets users construct their own transit system in any of 35
real world cities.
The goal of the game is to position train lines strategically so as to make as much
money as possible, expand the system quickly, and achieve certain goals.
The game runs universally on iPhone and iPad.
Used the MapKit framework to integrate Google Maps as the environment which
users build their system in.
Created a red and green heat-map layer on top of the map indicating how well
served each area is.
Optimized the game to perform graphically intensive tasks smoothly using the limited
hardware capabilities of the iPhone.
iOS DEVELOPER AD:60 Summer 2011
Created and modified complex iPhone and iPad applications.
Built applications which display dynamic content from the web using JSON, and are
efficiently scalable.
Optimized applications to display dynamic content quickly and intuitively, and to
degrade gracefully on slow or unreliable Internet connections.
Key areas of experience include: Interfacing with API s, Social Networking, Core
Animation, HTTP requests, UITableViews, CATiledLayers, Photo Viewers, Coverflow,
MapKit, Core Graphics, Time Profiler, Zombies, diagnosing memory leaks and
performance issues.
One app I worked on, named Songza, allows users to stream music playlists for free.
This app has now received about 14,200 ratings in the App Store, about 11,800 of
which are 5 stars.
INVASION Online Multiplayer Risk Game Spring 2012
This is a web application I helped create as part of a group of 4 in a Software
Development project course (67-373)
The site allows groups of 2-4 players to play an entire game of Risk online.
The site uses JavaScript and Raphael.js to display the game s map on the frontend,
and RoR to handle game logic on the backend.
The game includes a chat window that allows users to talk to each other, as well as a
unique move logging system, and several other interesting features.
My main contributions included the chatting feature, the homepage, the ability for
game states to update live when moves were made.
PARTY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMSpring 2011
Created a Rails application that allows users to plan parties and invite guests via
email. The guests receive a customized invitation email with a URL they can use to
RSVP.
The site features several user-friendly enhancements including a motion banner, a
drop down calendar, and an implementation of Google Maps.
The site is fully functional at this URL: growing-leaf-973.heroku.com
SUSTAINABILITY RESEARCH PROPOSAL Spring 2011
Worked in a group to develop a proposal for using an autonomous cruise control
system to enable close proximity drafting on highways as a means of improving fuel
efficiency.
We developed a website for this proposal, available here: lseid.com/sample1
CMUTV - Station Manager Fall 20010 Spring 2011
Helped to produce live events, and create content for our cable channel and YouTube
channels.
Was intimately involved with helping to manage cmuTV s $50,000 annual budget.
Provided important advice that has enabled the organization to efficiently reduce
costs and improve workflows.
