Qualification:
Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Pennsylvania
Proficient in PC's, AutoCAD, EASY5, HTRI and other software
Work Experience
Nov.2010 - Present Consultant
Analyzed stress and allowable nozzle loads of irregular-shaped vessels,
performed ASME vessel calculations and wrote reports for clients (NucFlow,
Tate Andale, etc.)
Nov.2009 - Nov 2010 Project Manager, Holtec International, Marlton, New
Jersey
Designed and assessed nuclear power plant fuel waste storage canisters and
associated piping systems. Sized chillers, gas compressors & blowers and
managed fabrication of Forced Helium Dehydration System used to dry and
back-fill storage canisters with helium gas. Prepare equipment purchase
specifications and operation procedures for radioactive waste fuel loading.
2009 Project Engineer, Victory Energy Operations, Tulsa, Oklahoma
Designed HRSG (Heat Recovery Steam Generation) boiler to ASME code.
Developed Excel spreadsheet templates in accordance with ASME Boiler and
Pressure Vessel Codes to improve calculation speed and accuracy. Performed
heat balance on boiler steam system. Analyzed boiler structure and
foundation supports.
2008 - 2009 Contract Engineer, Shaw Stone & Webster Inc, Denver, Colorado
Analyzed and wrote report on a new simple-cycle power plant's diesel backup
fuel storage and supply system, developed conceptual P&ID's on Coal
Desulfurization Systems, prepared cost estimate on projects. Recommended
freeze protection system retrofit for an existing combined-cycle power
plant.
2005-2008, Simulation Engineer, GeoControl Systems, Houston, Texas
Developed computer simulation models of space shuttle hydraulic systems
using EASY5 software. Analyzed International Space Station fuel transport
systems. Compiled rocket propellant fluid Monomethylhydrazine (MMH) and
nitrogen tetroxide (NTO) property data file using FORTRAN and used for fuel
and oxidizer flow simulation.
2001-2005, Consulting Engineer (Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. Clinton, New
Jersey) -
Designed and prepared technical specifications of SCR (Selective Catalytic
Reduction) system used to reduce power plants' NOx emission. Reviewed
boiler system drawings, examined equipment bids and recommended
contractors. Improved hydraulic system of tube storage tower in the
fabrication shop. (Tate Andale Corp. Baltimore, Maryland) - Analyzed
strainer fluid flows and sized pressure relief valves. Wrote reports on
cycle stress caused by offshore platform wave motion.
1997-2001, Engineering Manager, Morton Machine Works in Columbus, Georgia
Supervised engineering department, conducted technical training and
designed petrochemical tanks and heat exchangers. Developed quality system
and helped company obtained ISO 9001 certification. Saved company 100K on
consulting fee.
1995-1997, Project Manager, Yuba Heat Transfer in Tulsa, Oklahoma Managed 4
Millions dollars titanium condenser project of a new
combined-cycle power plant. Coordinated drawings and documents for customer
approval. Designed nozzle connections, flash box and stand pipe. Exceeded
customer's (ABB in Switzerland)) expectation on quality and delivery.
1993-1995, Lecturer at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland
Taught 3 engineering courses: Thermodynamics, Probability & Statistics and
Engineering Economics.
1989-1992, Project Engineer, Baltimore Gas Electric, Baltimore, Maryland
Responsible for capital projects from start to finish. Projects included
baghouse upgrade, electrostatic precipitator renovation and flyash system
improvement. Prepared bid packages, pre-qualified bidders, reviewed the
bids and selected contractors. Controlled cost, schedule and quality. Held
project's closeout meetings. Conducted performance tests on power plants
feedwater heater in accordance with ASME PTC codes and recommended actions.
Received recognition for contributing to a new power plant, Brandon Shore
II completion.
1985-1988, R & D Engineer, Filterite Corporation, Timonium, Maryland
Developed prototype filter housings and filtration systems. One design was
praised and appeared on Micro-Filtration magazine cover. Conducted pressure
tests on new housings. Solved plastic housing fatigue problem by testing
and earned FDA stamps after re-design.
1981-1985 Design Engineer, Westinghouse Electric Corporation, (Now Siemens)
Designed fossil and nuclear power plants' heat exchangers and piping
systems. Designed steam turbine's lube oil, EH (Electro-hydraulic) control
and gland steam seal systems. Performed piping flexibility analysis.
Interfaced with customers' AE firms on issues related to new power plant
layout. Edited design manuals and trained foreign engineers in technology
transfer program.
