Objective: To obtain a position as a Histotechnologist that would allow me to grow and to contribute to the growth of

a Histology laboratory.

Summary of skills and training

1. Specimen collection and gross

• Collection of specimens- requisition forms

• Accessioning specimens

• Preparing cassettes to match.

• Identify the various types of specimens (surgical, GYN, GI, breast, derm)

• Dermatological grossing and descriptions

2. Processing of specimens

• Understanding of processor functioning, solutions, maintenance,and QC.

3. Embedding

• Proper orientation according to specimen type.

• Checking off blocks for microtomy

• Fresh tissue for frozen sections

4. Microtomy ( microtome and cryostat)

• Maintenance and troubleshoot microtomy (rotary or semiautomatic, and cryostat)
