SUMMARY: Mr. Gouveia is a professional with over 25 years of boating experience in the Atlantic Ocean and

Caribbean Sea from Southern Florida to Barbados. Experience includes local and coastal

deliveries, sea trials, personalized boat handling instruction, and fishing charter excursions. Mr.

Gouveia is seeking permanent employment as an Able Seaman on vessels larger than 100 Gross

Ton for personnel/material delivery along the American Eastern Seaboard, Gulf Coast and

Caribbean Sea.

SAILING EXPERIENCE:

2007 – 2008: International Shipping Carriers LTD

Able Seaman

Able Seaman on a 402-ton cargo vessel, used for dry cargo deliveries between Puerto Rico and

the Leeward Islands. Responsibilities included assistance with loading and unloading, readying

docking lines, held part of the navigational watch and manned the wheel as direct by the Captain or

Mate while en-route, stood watch while docked or at anchor and ensured all emergency gear was

in working order.

2008: Rosewood Resorts, Jumby Bay, Antigua

Captain

Captain of TOP NOTCH, a 32-foot Boston Whaler used for charter services at the Jumby Bay

Resort. Responsibilities include maintaining engines and hull, preparing, stocking and captaining

the boat for fishing and snorkeling charters.

2007: Water Front Bar and Restaurant, St. John, Antigua

Captain

Captain of BLUE VENTURE, a 31-foot Rampage with twin Caterpillar diesel engines, used for

charter services. Responsibilities included boat and engine maintenance and crew supervision.

Activities also included preparing, stocking and captaining the boat for fishing charters

2003 – 2006: H&M Incorporated

Captain

Captain of OVERDRAFT, a 40-foot Fishing vessel with a single Detroit diesel engine and H2O, a

26-foot Pro Cat with twin 200 horse power Suzuki engines, used for charter services.

Responsibilities included charter marketing, boat maintenance, and crew supervision. Activities

also included scheduling of boat and crew for fishing charters, and preparing and stocking of boat

between charters.

2002 – 2003: Reef Ball Foundation, Miami, FL

Diver

Local diver hired by the Reef Ball Foundation to position and anchor reef balls for an artificial reef

just off East Bay on Maiden Island.

2002: Light House Resort, Low Bay, Barbuda

Captain

Captain of a 60-foot self propelled barge. Responsibilities included barge maintenance, including

ropes and moorings; transport of material and heavy equipment between the islands of Antigua

and Barbuda.

Captain

Captain for several sailboats ranging in size from a 54-foot Gibson to a 33-foot catamaran for

charter services for Sunsail guests between the islands of Tortola, BVI; St. Martin; Nevis;

Guadeloupe; Dominica; St. Lucia and Antigua & Barbuda. Also responsible for the deliveries of

sailboat ranging in size from a 60-foot Gibson to a 38-foot catamaran from as far north as the US

Virgin Islands to as far south as Grenada.

1985 – 1995: Govee's Marine Supplies, St. John, Antigua

Manager

Responsibilities include marketing, supervision of staff, placing orders and stocking parts,

equipment and supplies for boats, fishing gear and diving equipment. Mr. Gouveia also

represented Govee's Marine Supplies at fishing tournaments and sailing regattas throughout the

Caribbean, from as far north as Puerto Rico to as far south as Grenada. Mr. Gouveia sailed with

several private yacht owners in non-competitive races. He also entered the Antigua Sailing Week

regatta, one of the top five regattas in the world and currently the biggest in the Caribbean, on

several yachts as a fore deck, including a 44-foot Hunter, 33-foot Swann and a 31-foot Jenoah.
