. SABIC United:
(Since Sep, 2014 to date)
Currently worked in SABIC as Leas Process Engineer. SABIC is the largest
petrochemicals & chemicals tycoon of KSA and world leading 3rd largest
petrochemical company. I am working as capacity of Process engineer in
Projects and Technical services departments.
Projects:
1. CO2 Project:
Review the FEED, detail engineering and As-built packages. Involve in Pre-
commissioning, commissioning and startup. Review all kind of SOP and
procedures. Flare header analysis with CO2 plant load and provide
solutions. Attend HAZOP and PHA.
2. VHPBFW: Very high pressure boiler feed water line size, give
suggestion, risk assesment and prepare engineering package of
construction.
3. Benzene stripper: Prepare benzene stripper simulation and suggest the
range of parameters to operation for the optimization, controlling and
safe operation.

Handle MOC, daily production suggestions, daily plant monitoring, risk

Prior worked in JACOBS ZATE as a Process Engineer. Jacobs ZATE is
subsidiary of Jacobs Engineering in Saudi Arabia. I am assigned on
following project related to Saudi Aramco facilities.
1. Sour Water Stripper:
Purpose of this project is to install new 550GPM Sour Water Facility to the
treat of sour water and make it useable. This is FEED project. My
responsibilities are:
Prepare Scope of work, control & operating philosophy, process description
and cut-off philosophy PFD, P&ID, and Cause & Effect Diagram. Make
different scenarios simulation model and Heat & Material balance. Design
heat exchangers, pumps, condensate pod and separators & drums. Design PSV
in different scenarios in vessels and columns. Utility consumption
calculation and hydraulics of single & multiphase lines. Participated in
HAZOP and value engineering
Flare network rating & sizing (analyzed existing flare header and propose
new network connect with existing).
Fire Network:
Risk area analysis for fire water demand. Hydraulics calculation and report
for fire network. Prepare fire hazardous drawing and P&ID, fire protection
philosophy and coordinate with third party for certification.
2. Clean Fuel & Aromatic FEED Project of Ras Tanura Refinery & Terminal
(Aramco subsidiary largest refinery). This clean fuel project
comprises FEED studies of Crude distillation unit, CCR unit,
Isomerization unit, Naphtha hydro-treater unit, Para-xylene unit
(Process licensor Axen), Offsite, Utilities and Terminal & Tanks
including HP & LP flaring. I have assigned:
Offsite and Tanks & Terminal and Offshore loading facility:
Prepare control & operating philosophy, process description, scope of work,
PFD, P&ID, Cause & Effect, as built P&ID & fire hazardous drawing, line
list, Pumps, Tanks, VRU (vapor recovery units), tanks PVRV, custody
transfer meters & loading arm data & spec. sheets. Conceptual studies of
different proposals & option of different system and conduct feasibility
study of debottlenecking for those system & options. Provide technical
support to client for LSTK bidder's queries and bid evaluation. Perform PSV
& PVRV calculation on different scenario. Rating existing pumps and
proposes new pumps as per need. Perform hydraulics and hydraulic analysis
in different cases. Participate in value engineering & lessons learn
secessions and HAZOP and evaluate DBSP (Design Basis). Correspondence with
vendor and client. Prepare variation notes and technical queries for any
deviation.
3. Well heads, scraper & launcher and manifolds:
Purpose of this project is to provide technical & engineering services to
SaudiAramco. My responsibilities are:
Prepare PFD, P&ID and Cause & effect. Steady state hydraulics of flow,
process & trunk lines. Participated in HAZOP
4. Sulfur handling:
Purpose of this project is handling, storage and shipping of amorphous
sulfur. I do on this project is:
Heat & Material balance of plant. Prepare operating & control philosophy
PFD, UFD, P&ID and Cause & Effects diagram. Steam jacketing calculation for
different sulfur lines. Participated PHA & HAZOP.
5. Dorra Gas:
Purpose of this project is to provide the provision of some new wellhead
feed to the facility. To accomplish this, I do:
Hydraulics of new process & utilities lines and calculate utilities
consumptions for new units. Design heat exchangers. Prepare PFD, P&ID &
C&ED.
6. Uthmaniya Gas Plant:
Purpose of this project is to utilize dry gas as a regeneration gas, in
this project I am responsible to:
Rate and propose heat exchangers & coolers, multiphase vessels. Make report
on observations & new proposals and prepare PFD, P&ID & C&ED.
7. Shaybah CPF Expansion:
This is ER review project to estimation for detail engineering and
construction. I am responsible to:
Check calculations and simulation. Check deliverables with calculations.
Consistency check with all deliverables
8. Flare Network Study:
In this project, I had vetted the gas plant facility actual capability of
existing flare system and its bottlenecking.
Check all relieve loads on existing and new cases. Make different cases for
reliving on Flarenet. (e.g. Fire case, power failure, instrument air
failure, block outlet etc) and calculate material & energy balance by Aspen
HYSYS. Vet existing network and knock out drums capabilities. Prepare
report, address bottlenecks and mitigation plan.
. BPPL (BYCO Petroleum Pakistan Ltd.) (Since
Jan, 2006 to Aug, 2011)
Prior, I worked in BPPL as Process Engineer & Operation Engineer in
Technical services, Operation and projects and Departments. BPPL having
facility to refine 40,000 BPSD of crude into derivative products.
1. Re-Vamp Project
Petroleum Refinery Re-Vamp Project, Commissioning and Annual Turn around.
I had worked in Revamp project as Process & Operation engineer (assist to
my seniors). I have been also working and experience three Annual Turns
around and over hauling of equipment.
Prior BPPL having capacity 18,000 BPSD and post revamp it becomes 40,000
BPSD. This enhancement has possible by adding new pre-flash tower, more
than twenty heat exchangers, Heavy duty feed & Product pumps, heavy duty
furnace (107 MMBTU/hr), enhance capability of own use fuel, enhance
capacity of cooling water system, installation of new 12 Ton boiler,
replacement trays of distillation column, de-propanizer column & de-
butanizer column, and new custody transfer meters.
- Make proposal and design basis of Revamp project.
- Vet calculations for new modification by using HYSYS, Korf, Flarenet,
HTRI and finalized. Vet and finalize all PFD, P & ID & cause & Effect
Diagram. Onsite installation of new equipments, new modifications and
over hauling of all equipment.
- Ensuring the process engineering detailed design meets the FEED
objectives & implemented and process engineering DD design complies
with the company standards and is quality assured
- Make SOP and commission procedures of different equipments and units.
- Ensuring work tasks are carried out efficiently whilst minimizing
risks and maximizing safety
2. Catalyst Regeneration:
I am familiar with Regeneration procedure of fixed bed platformer and NHT
catalyst. I was assist to seniors in regeneration of UOP fixed bed
plateformate and NHT catalyst regeneration.
3. Storage Capability Enhancement
Checked deliverables and supervised the construction activities (We
construct fixed roof, external floating roof, internal floating roof tanks
and high pressure vessels). Monitor tie-in jobs of pumping and storage
lines to enhance the capabilities and verified an ATG (Auto Tanks Gauging)
installation and commission jobs on all new and old tanks for smooth
custody transfer. Supervised all above jobs in a safe hand without LTI
(Lost Time Injury) and any incident.
4. Waste Water Treatment:
Enhance and install new API & CPI system to handle surplus waste water. I
am responsible to check calculation PFD, P&ID, C&ED. Coordinate with
consultant and vendor. Supervise construction.
General Responsibilities
- Handling of Process Abnormalities and emergencies. Prepared shut
down/startup, emergency and different SOP procedures.
- Develop and monitor operating budget for different departments and
suggest recommendations.
- Responsible for ensuring the process engineering detailed design
meets the FEED objectives and change process is followed. Responsible
for ensuring the process engineering DD design complies with
the company standards and is quality assured.
- Supervise MOC (Management of Change), provide on-site technical
support to operations including: commissioning assistance, trouble
shooting, performance testing, monitoring and optimization, de-
bottlenecking, provision of operating guidelines and manuals, advice
on chemical injection requirements and plant material balance reviews.
- Monitor and calculate daily consumption of utilities and its results.
Take action against abnormal results and abnormal consumption.
- Led a team of Shift Coordinators, Shift Engineers and 35 plant
operators responsible for safe, efficient and smooth operations of
Crude distillation, Hydro-treater, Platformer unit and Utilities of
40,000BPD DCS & APC controlled oil refinery

stage, and provide support to others for project execution.
- In house HAZOP for different new modifications. Performance

- Assure the continued integrity of the facilities through ensuring
operating data is current, relevant and available, through updated
site documentation, and through monitoring of plant conditions to
ensure operations remain within the operating envelope.
- Implementation and follow up of HSE regulations (Work to Permit
System, HAZARD Identification, and Incidents Notification etc.).

recommendation.
