SENIOR BUYER
With Expertise to Reduce Cost and Improve Inventory Turns
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Senior Buyer WestPoint Home, Inc. 2003 to
2010
Aggressively researched and recommended cost savings possibilities based
upon negotiations, new sources and substitutions. Worked with IT to
establish and implement programs to track cost by vendor and/or plant to
monitor spend. Worked with plants on EOQ's and EOP's to reduce spend and
inventory values and increase inventory turns.
. Developed and administered various supplier bids.
. Analyzed and evaluated bid quotations to assure quality, capabilities,
service and total cost of ownership.
. Monitored appropriate market pricing and supply, and reported changes
or conditions that could affect the company's procurement position
(natural gas).
. Administered the sale of scrap through bids.
. Worked with supply managers at multiple locations to reduce surplus
and obsolete inventory either by return for credit, bids or write-
offs.
. Rewrote the supply purchasing manual for WestPoint Home, Inc.
. Developed and conducted seminars to review WestPoint Homes, Inc.'s
guidelines for purchasing and inventory control.
. Responsible for reviewing and/or approving any new purchasing programs
for the AS400.
. Responsible for reviewing user access to the AS400 purchasing system
and ensuring compliance with all policies related to The Sarbanes-
Oxley Act.
. Reviewed AP on contracts to monitor payments from plants.
Results-Scrap metals were sold at a premium instead of being scrapped as
waste. Bids were used to identify the company's best source for price and
performance. Surplus and obsolete inventories were kept at a minimum to
reduce inventory values and improve plants' inventory turns. Reduced the
company's overall inventory value by $2,614,728 from January 2006 to
December 2006. The new programs identified usage and values so the high
dollar purchases could be researched for new sources and/or other ways to
reduce cost. From March 2009 to January 2010, WestPoint Home, Inc. received
refunds of $126,000 due to over payments.
Supply Manager, WestPoint Stevens, Inc. (Dunson and Dixie Plants) 2001 to
2003
. Responsible for inventory control over multiple plants.
. Implemented cycle counts at both plants to have a continuous check on
inventory. Dixie was 100% on audits during this time and had never had
a prior audit that checked 100%.
Supply Manager, WestPoint Stevens (Dunson Plant) 1990 to
2003
. Expertise in inventory control. Dunson was 100% on audits for 18 years
in a row.
