WORK EXPERIENCE
Intern at Kiwi PCS, ComScape Telecommunications, Inc
July '09 - Aug '09
Worked on Ericsson's CDMA equipment. Monitored the RBS of cell sites using
RBS Element Manager, provided trouble shooting & resolved active alarms,
replaced faulty RF modules & LNAs at cell sites, configuration & Telnet-
based management of Netopia Cable/DSL routers, cell phone activation &
testing.
RELEVANT PROJECTS
Communication - Designed a wireless telephone system using FDMA for initial
cell sectoring and TDMA for multiple user access. Determined various
parameters such as cell radius, SNR, frequency reuse ratio, cell layout,
number of channels and effective users. Optimized the performance of the
system by selecting the type of error control code, modulation scheme and
receiver antenna.
Digital Filters - Designed FIR filter for given frequency response using
various windowing methods, frequency sampling techniques & optimal filter
design method and simulated using Matlab.
Simulation of Modulation Schemes - Compared performance of several
modulation methods like BPSK, 4-PAM & 8-PSK using theoretical
estimates and simulations in Matlab.
Ultra wideband Communications - Presented a technical paper giving the key
concepts, performance evaluation & applications of UWB systems.
Peer to Peer File Sharing System - Designed & implemented a centralized &
distributed architecture capable of searching the file content in the
system. In the centralized architecture, server maintained a database and a
client could register, login & share files with the server and also query &
download files from other peers. In the distributed architecture, database
was distributed amongst many super-nodes. Coded the server & client modules
in Java using NetBeans IDE and used MySQL for the database manager module.
Wireless Sensor Network - Developed a self forming single hop broadcast
network using MicaZ & TelosB motes. Multiple end nodes could communicate
with the root node. Coding was done in nseC over TinyOS platform.
OPNET Simulations - Evaluated network performance based on delay, load &
point-to-point utilization.
Cache Design - Implemented a cache & multi-level memory hierarchy simulator
in C. The cache was configurable for any block size & associativity. The
write policy was write-back, write-allocate & replacement policy was LRU.
Human Gait Analysis - Implemented two different methods to identify human
individuals from their walking style. Created a database of video sequences
of people walking along a corridor to test the system.
