Managing Director, Group Head, Corporate Banking
Designated a strategic growth area for RBCCM in the US, asked to devote
full attention to building Corporate Banking Team of 5 professionals to
support growth in US Public Finance practice.
. Working in collaboration with Investment Banking colleagues, launched a
new product to finance delivery of natural gas on a fixed cost basis.
Closed $400MM pre-paid gas transaction, which generated year-1
transaction revenues of $10MM and annuity revenues over 30-year term of
$100MM: Coordinated significant legal and economic due diligence,
conducted meetings to convince senior management that structured 30-year
credit commitment was appropriate within the context of the transaction
and the institution's credit culture.
. Built a new Public Finance Corporate Banking Team. Over 12-month period,
increased Public Finance credit book 100% (from $2BN to $4BN), driving
credit revenues up from $4MM to $12MM, aiding in the awarding of new DCM
mandates: Successfully identified/recruited/trained team of 5 banking
professionals.
. Assumed leadership for core Financial Institutions Corporate Banking Team
that due to attrition required re-staffing. Added 8 new clients to
portfolio and team portfolio revenues increased 30% year-over-year, to
$50MM: Team fully staffed and productive in less than 90-days.
. Built reputation and volumes in the global debt capital markets league
tables among Financial Institution issuers. Utilized established
relationships with representatives of Morgan Stanley, to sell MS
management on the benefits of accessing the Canadian market and using RBC
as lead arranger: RBC awarded mandate to lead MS's inaugural Canadian
DCM issuance. Transaction was sized at $2BN, making it the largest Maple
Bond issuance done to date. Transaction generated $2MM in revenues, and
enhanced RBC's stature in the market, generating follow-on business with
MS and other leading FI's.

. Was awarded $1BN securitization mandate. RBC annual revenue on the
transaction, likely to remain on the books indefinitely, is in excess of
$1MM: Delivered compelling case to support exclusion of USAA from the de-
market list for 12-months. Orchestrated focused meetings with USAA
representatives and senior members of our Securitization Team. Provided
USAA with continual market information which validated RBC's position as
a top Securitization provider.
. Cultivated contacts within Morgan Stanley to quickly develop credible
relationship with Discover senior management team in advance of spin-off.
Quarter-backed meetings between key executives and product
representatives at RBC and Discover to deliver financing commitments on
an accelerated time schedule: RBC awarded 3 lead/co-lead mandates on
Discover's 5 inaugural financings, including its DCM issuance and
securitization program. RBC recognized as one of Discover's core legacy
banks. Securitization transaction generates revenue of $3MM per annum.
. Managed closure of German office and consolidation of European coverage
from London: Staff handled the transition professionally. 5 key
personnel relocated to London. There were no labor issues with German
personnel who were terminated. German Corporate Client base remained
intact and subsequently grew following consolidation of coverage out of
London.
. Successfully established 100+ inter-bank relationships. Sold $1.8BN in
LBO loan commitments, reducing exposures to within approved policy
guidelines. Loan sales routinely generated a positive skim of 25 to 175
basis points on the underwriting fees the Bank received on its original
commitments: Acquired deep understanding of secondary syndicated loan
markets. Developed trusted sales relationships with targeted foreign
banks. Established credibility with Senior Management to sell down out-
sized initial credit commitments to pre-determined targeted hold levels.
. As Corporate Banking Team Leader, responsible for maintaining quality of
our credit portfolio, structuring credit transactions, negotiating
supporting documentation, and reviewing/signing-off on team members'
transactions: Over past 10 years, recorded no credit provisions or write-
offs against team portfolio.
. Joined RBC as a Corporate Banking Analyst Trainee progressing to various
lending/marketing positions of increasing responsibility in NY Corporate
Banking division. Primary focus initially on mid-market, north-east
based public and private corporations. Gained International and Fortune
500 experience as Senior Manager and Team Leader, Corporate Banking,
London, England; Leader European Media & Telecommunications Team; Deputy
