Manage a department comprised of environmental engineers, safety engineers,

to the Sr. VP of Operations with dotted line responsibility to the Sr. VP

of the Legal Department

. Designed and implemented an EHS management system across this Division,

which was based on ISO, OSHA VPP and Best Management Practices

. Requested responsibility for administering the Division safety program

when it was determined the Division required additional technical and

regulatory expertise in that area

. Obtained a Masters Degree in health & safety through distance learning

. EHS lead for acquisitions that more than doubled the size of this

Division

. Implemented a system of EHS goals, objectives and metrics across the

. Developed a creative solution to egress concerns in barrel warehouses

that resulted in a $3 million cost avoidance

. Evaluated and designed a system to reduce the cost associated with

wastewater and storm water discharges

NORAMCO, Inc. (A Johnson & Johnson Company) Athens, GA

1988 to 1996

Environmental Manager

First environmental engineer employed at this location with the

responsibility to develop a comprehensive environmental program to support

the growth of two Johnson and Johnson Companies; NORAMCO, which is a bulk

pharmaceutical manufacturing company, and McNeil Specialty, which was

developing Splenda , a brand of artificial sweetener.

. Accepted responsibility for administering site safety, during a nine-

month period, while a replacement Manager was recruited

. Managed the site solid waste rotary kiln incinerator as a profit

center, while continuing to perform environmental responsibilities.

This business served all Johnson and Johnson Companies as an internal

waste destruction facility

. Managed the implementation of the OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM)

standard and the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know (EPCRA)

regulations

. The EHS member of the management team responsible for bringing Splenda

to the marketplace

. Active participant in risk management planning, emergency response plan

development and the use of mathematical models used to predict the

impact of potential air releases

Mead Corporation, Dayton, OH 1985 to 1988

Senior Environmental Consultant

A member of the Corporate Environmental Staff, with responsibility for

overseeing and assisting all operating locations with environmental

compliance activities, particularly as they related to solid and hazardous

waste and underground tank management.

. Was recognized and rewarded with a special situation financial bonus

for the success of implementing an underground storage tank program

across the Corporation in response to new regulatory requirements

represented Mead on the American Paper Institute waste sub-committee

Plant Environmental Engineer

The first environmental engineer employed at this bulk pharmaceutical

manufacturing facility with the responsibility of establishing a site-wide

environmental program.

. Managed a comprehensive groundwater monitoring and remediation project

. Advised on the operation of an activated sludge wastewater treatment

facility

. Operated the wastewater treatment plant, during a three-month labor

strike

Olin Corporation, Charleston, TN 1982 to 1984

Group Environmental Affairs Specialist

Worked as a member of the Chemical Group staff with responsibility for

overseeing and assisting facility personnel with all environmental concerns

and activities. Facilities located in Niagara Falls, NY, Augusta, GA, and

Brandenburg, KY were the focal points of attention.

. Designated the group hazardous waste expert and the "go to person" on

all issues related to interpretation and application of the Resource

Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)

. Wrote three RCRA Part B applications for treatment, storage, and

disposal locations, one of which was the second application accepted by

New York State

State of Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD), Atlanta, GA

A hands-on field/office position, focused on state of the art environmental

technical activities that included: sampling, measuring, modeling, use of
