Research

Research interests include understanding operational reliability in the

management of complex information systems. The main focus of the research

is in applying factors from High Reliability Organizations (HROs) to other

environments normally considered to be less critical. Specifically,

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) projects might be able to learn from the

successes of HROs and thus, create an environment where there is a greater

likelihood of successful outcomes. The near-term goal of this research is

to develop and test a framework for ERP implementation and management that

would enable ERP managers, consultants, and vendors to:

. assess organizational readiness for ERP,

. identify shortcomings in the organizational environment,

. estimate the impact of identified shortcomings, and

. correct shortcomings before they have a negative impact on the

project.

The principle benefit of this research is in its practical application and

potential benefit for managing real world environments.
