EXPERIENCE
AERO DESIGN, INC. - MOUNT JULIET, TN: August 2007 - Present
Director of Operations
Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Avionics & Power Systems, I
manage the operations of Aero Design's two facilities in Mount Juliet, TN
and Gainesville, FL. A division of HEICO Aerospace, Aero Design
manufactures jet aircraft batteries and electronic components for the
aerospace industry. I have oversight and responsibility for
Manufacturing, Materials, Shipping, Receiving, and Maintenance.
Selected Achievements:
. Successful implementation of kanban driven ordering system in the
materials department. Over 99% of all premium inbound freight has
been eliminated.
. Successful implementation of 5-S housekeeping system in both
locations.
. Successful implementation of production kanban system. On time
shipping score has been 100% in eleven out of the last twelve months.
. Quality and process improvements have increased Gainesville production
capacity by over 50%.
. Waste cost reduction in Gainesville has created a hard savings of
$95,000 per year.
. Led process improvement Kaizen team that reduced new product to market
cycle time by over 60%.
STINGER MEDICAL - MURFREESBORO, TN: March 2006 - August 2007
Director of Manufacturing
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, I managed the laser,
brake press, powder coat, electronics assembly, vacuum thermoforming,
final assembly, and shipping, and receiving departments.
Selected Achievements:
. Hand selected as one of four steering committee members for
implementation of new Quality System for ISO 13485:2003 certification.
. Developed and maintained performance metrics for safety, quality, cost
and delivery.
. Implemented a new process auditing system driving root cause issues
back to the owners of each of the customer order entry processes.
Sales order accuracy increased by 20%.
. Implemented a takt time driven paced assembly line, increasing
efficiency by 19%.
SHILOH INDUSTRIES - DICKSON, TN: October 1995 - March 2006
Manufacturing Manager: 2005 - March 2006
I managed the overall manufacturing operations of a JIT, kanban-
driven tier one automotive stamping and assembly facility. I managed
seven salaried supervisors and 300 indirect hourly manufacturing
technicians. Our manufacturing plant consisted of 12 press lines (200
ton progressive to 2000 ton transfer) and approximately 65 weld assembly
cells (spot, mig, and resistance welding). I was responsible for product
quality, safety compliance, personnel manning, kanban scheduling, and
output. I developed and maintained the manufacturing budget and I held
responsibility for operations' compliance to TS 16949 Quality Management
System.
Six Sigma Black Belt / Kaizen Leader: 2004 - 2005
As Six Sigma Black Belt / Kaizen Leader, I was responsible for all
cost reduction activities in our facility. In 2004 and 2005, I led Six
Sigma improvement projects that recognized the following results:
. Hard savings of $800,000 for FY04.
. Hard savings of $1.2 million for FY05.
. Reduction of die change times on constraint presses by an
average of 43%.
. Improvement of OEE on constraint work cells by an average of
28%.
. Reduced daily waste costs from 1.8% of sales to 1.2% of
sales.
Team Leader / Manufacturing Supervisor / Plant Superintendent: 1995 -
2004
As Team Leader, Manufacturing Supervisor and later as Plant
Superintendent, I managed the operations of the press and welding
assembly areas with progressive levels of responsibility. Member of
process improvement teams that established and implemented quality gates
/ poka yoke between supply parts and final delivery. Also responsible
for plant layout design and was project manager for re-design of service
plant floor to open 50,000 sq. feet of operating space. This allowed for
successful quoting and launch of the WZW Nissan platform without
expansion.
