Chief Financial Officer
CFO for this leading private equity held oil & gas services organization. Led a turnaround initiative including the
strategic planning process, new sales channel strategies as well as directing financial and corporate services.
• Instituted new sales strategies, CRM system, controls and metrics and successfully transitioned the function
from reactive inside sales design to an engineering-led solutions focus.
• Led a corporate rebranding and communication initiative (e.g., web presence, B2B marketing).
• Implemented a new corporate governance framework and financial systems protocol.
BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO (BAT) 1992 - 2008
Chief Executive Officer, BAT Libya, Tripoli, Libya 2008
Directed operational and sales initiatives within this key North African market. Developed long-range marketing plans
and sales strategies based upon revising the market model under a joint venture arrangement with Libyan Government.
• Successfully negotiated a local manufacturing arrangement with government stakeholders and a local
partner delivering a 35% p.a. increase in EBITDA.
• Increased sales volume by 20% in the first six months including development of new product line
extensions.
Chief Executive Officer, BAT Indian Ocean Islands, Mauritius 2006 - 2008
CEO of BAT’s five market $225 million operation in the Indian Ocean with full P&L accountability. Held
autonomous decision-making authority for marketing, manufacturing, finance, and HR with 6 direct and 240 indirect
reports.
• Delivered the highest level of performance of all business units across BAT’s Africa Middle East Region and
second highest globally for the year 2007.
• Led a strategic supply chain restructuring initiative to take advantage of regional synergies and trade
blocs. The initiative delivered an increase in EBITDA of 22% p.a. with no impact on the corporate
market position.
• Successfully lobbied government for favorable taxation and regulation leading to greater certainty and
sustainability of the sector.
Chief Financial Officer, BAT Turkey, Istanbul, Turkey 2004 - 2006
Senior leadership team member of BAT’s $1.0 billion unit with responsibility for Turkey, Israel and the
Caucasus.
• Led a strategic business review and turnaround strategy, which delivered a 10% growth in market
share and 15% increase in EBITDA within twelve months.
• Finance leader of mergers and acquisition team pursuing the purchase of the local competitor Tekel
(ultimately acquired by BAT for USD 1.8 bn. in 2007).
• Initiated a business model restructuring which released over $16 million p.a. in tax and cost related
cash flows.

CFO for BAT’s $310 million business unit spanning 27 markets across the Caribbean.
• Implemented a corporate restructuring to leverage regional tax benefits and facilitate a dramatic
reduction of corporate overheads releasing $12 million in EBITDA and cash flow p.a.
• Launched a regional shared service center which was used as blueprint for the South American region.

CFO for a $550 million regional business unit responsible for manufacturing and exports across Asia Pacific.
Directly responsible for finance and accounting matters, sales & operations planning and IT.
• Delivered a new global strategy for BAT’s travel retail business as project manager supported by the
consulting firm Bain & Co.
• Led a successful SAP implementation which included a business process re-engineering resulting in supply
chain efficiencies in excess of $15 million p.a.
• Successfully negotiated the separation of multiple distributors ahead of schedule and budget by $5 million.
Marketing Controller, BAT Argentina, Buenos Aires 1998 - 2000
Managed marketing investments, budgets (including brand and trade marketing development activities), special
projects and supported the development of the company marketing strategy.
• Coordinated the business plan for the implementation of direct distribution in Argentina, the largest direct
distribution project ever undertaken by BAT globally.
• Led the corporate ten-year strategy review process, which was used as a template example worldwide in the
BAT Group.
