Assistant Controller, Corporate (Komatsu America Corporation) (2002 - 2008)

Director Financial Planning and Reporting (Komatsu America International

Corporation) (2001 - 2002)

The duties included review of the consolidated financial results and

reporting, financial planning and analysis which included monthly outlooks

and related countermeasures, annual profit and strategic plans, managing

the marketing sales accounting function and worked with internal and

external auditors. Assigned the role of Marketing Controller for the three

sales divisions and worked with the division heads on full P&L and Balance

Sheet reviews. Assisted the headquarter functions of legal, human

resources, service, IT and engineering on expense budgeting. Involved with

Advanced Transfer Pricing Agreements (APA) which established profit ranges

for Japan and United States approved by both governmental tax authorities.

. Launched the Center of Excellence Project intended to create a

standardized inventory management model for the 3 manufacturing plants

using SAP. The project involved working with plant and IT staff to

optimize plant processes and SOX compliance efforts.

. Selected for an advisory role to Komatsu Forklift for conversion of their

numerous operating systems to an integrated solution using SAP.

. Created an invoice approval matrix for all organizations in SAP to be

included in SOX compliance testing. This matrix was incorporated into an

automated workflow for invoice approval in SAP resulting in a projected

savings of $400K per year.

. Negotiated a corporate wide cell phone contract creating pooling plans

and volume discounts generating an 11% cost savings.

. Led the Sarbanes - Oxley (SOX) process control team of in-house staff and

outside consultants of 20 people from development of process flow chart

risk control matrix establishing controls, creation of test plans and

testing with necessary remediation resulting in no material weaknesses or

significant deficiencies for year one.

. Drove process improvement by working with others to reduce the process

control set for year 2 of the SOX project by 40% resulting in cost

savings for internal testing and external audit fees.

. Developed and implemented a dealer profitability reporting system

incorporating sales and margins results thus rationalizing dealer network

contribution to profit margin.

. Assisted in locating a new dealership in Alaska in order to protect,

service and expand the customer base as well as increase company profits.

. Designated as the financial representative in a corporate cost reduction

project which was designed to eliminate $40 million. This involved

reducing the number of companies in the organizational structure by 10

and working with manufacturing to change the model from a fully

integrated operation (fabrication, welding, machinery and assembly) to an

assembly operation.

Responsible for the total P&L and Balance Sheet for the company,

establishment and monitoring of internal line of credit, development of

strategic and annual profit plans, managed the marketing administration

function of customer support, pricing and programs, purchasing and market

share information. Worked with foreign affiliates on supply agreements,

new product introduction and transfer pricing. Met with wholesale and

retail customer base. Revenue for the company was about $35 million.

. Achieved the first profit for the company during year three of operation.

. Instrumental in creating the main organizational structure for KUC. This

entailed working with human resources on job grading, recruiting, making

offers, and developing shared service agreements within Komatsu.

. Appointed to the Komatsu Utility Corporation (KUC) management site

selection team with the goal of building the first U. S. manufacturing

plant for utility products. This collaborative effort resulted in the

opening of the Newberry, SC facility with a capital base of $10 million.

1999)

Manager, Marketing Accounting Services (Komatsu America International

Corporation) (1991-1996)

This position was located at headquarters. Responsibilities included all

machine invoicing for 3 sales divisions, recording of purchases, system

input of standard cost, freight factors, accruals rates for marketing

programs, warranty, and royalty. Proper recording of revenue and issuance

of distributor debits and credits along with standard variable margin and

variance reviews. Taking of the physical inventory of finished machines and

attachments at the plants and stockyards.

Working with Komatsu affiliates on transfer prices. Monitored and

controlled over $175 million in marketing programs, warranty, and inventory

reserves.

. A key player in the conversion of mainframe systems to SAP.

Controller (Galion Operation of Komatsu America International Corporation)

(1989-1991)

Responsible for the total accounting function which included general

accounting, invoicing, accounts receivable and payable, cost accounting,

fixed assets, payroll and cycle counting for the three plants in the

operation. Revenue for the operation was about $250 million and this was a

union facility.

1989)

Vertically integrated union factory which produced track and rubber tired

construction equipment. Duties included the development of plant overhead

rates, working with purchasing for setting of material standards and

variances, supervision of staff and worked with all factory functions.
