Zebra Technologies is a manufacturer of on-demand specialty digital
printing and automatic identification solutions that help companies
identify, locate and track assets, transactions and people. Revenues in
2008 were $977 million.
Director, Corporate Quality
Designed and implemented a highly successful Quality Management System in
all areas of this multi-site international corporation that created a
competitive advantage through superior customer satisfaction and lower
costs of non-conformance.
Key actions and results:
. Instrumental in creating and maintaining Zebra's reputation for
quality and reliability as Zebra grew from $40 million in 1992 to
nearly $1 billion in revenue in 2008.
. Achieved net promoter scores of +42 in customer satisfaction surveys.
. Drove a reduction of 29 percent ($7 million) in the Cost of Poor
Quality between 2006 and 2008.
. Created and executed a successful Quality plan for the outsourcing of
production of 24 printer lines (annual volume of 1 million units) to a
contract manufacturer in China.

into the new product development process.
. Formulated and maintained an Executive Quality Dashboard on Zebra's
Intranet that provided the Executive Team with easy, real-time access

. Improved outgoing quality level of all printer lines from 70 percent
to a consistent 98 to 99 percent zero defect acceptance rate within an
18 month period.
. Achieved ISO 9001 registration at three sites in the first attempt.
. Lowered customer complaint rate by 85 percent over a three year span.
. Implemented a supplier pre-qualification process and a supplier rating

CORCOM, INC., Mundelein, IL 1985 - 1992
Corcom is an Original Equipment Manufacturer of RFI and EMI filters that
prevent susceptibility and limit emissions from radio frequency
interference (RFI) in accordance with FCC and international standards.
Director of Quality Assurance
Directed efforts at multi-national sites to assure that all products
designed, manufactured and sold by Corcom met all internal and customer
standards for quality and reliability.
. Re-energized and documented Corcom's quality system and guided all
levels of management in its implementation.
. Gained preferred supplier status from AT&T.
. Improved outgoing quality levels to over 99.9 percent.
. Integrated the Juran continuous improvement process into the company

Process Assurance Manager
Developed and implemented a new program that applied the principles of
process capability and statistical process control to the manufacturing
