Dear Hiring Manager,
This letter is in reference to the Operations Manager position that you are
looking to fill. I am sure you will see that my experiences mirror the
responsibilities listed in the job description. Below are some of my
qualifications as they pertain to the position of Operations Manager.
( Education and Certifications
While attending Kansas State University, I earned my BS in both Operations
Management and Human Resource Management. I have my Commercial Contractors
License in North and South Carolina. I am a certified Six Sigma Black Belt
and am currently completing classes towards earning my CPIM (Certified in
Production and Inventory Management) through APICS. Due to my strong
competence in DMAIC, KAIZEN, 5S, Six Sigma, TQM, MRP, JIT, and Supply Chain
Management, I have been able to continually produce a positive rate-of-
return on all of my projects.
( 9 years Project Management experience in Project Manufacturing
During my nine years of experience, I have been directly responsible for
day-to-day operations on multiple projects of up to 1,500,000 sq ft. This
includes responsibility for profit and loss over projects ranging in size
from $25 million to $75 million total. As an Area Manager, other duties
included interpreting technical drawings for engineered repairs, commercial
structures, and the construction of city roads. Over those years, my
duties have also included leading teams, such as budgeting, forecasting,
and sales.
( Scheduling and Supply Chain Management
Applying my knowledge of Six Sigma methodology, I reduced a 75 day schedule
by 33% for a project savings of $120,000 and a 130 day schedule by 23% for
a project savings of $270,000. Additional savings included the
introduction of responsible waste recycling for an annual savings of
$40,000. I negotiated contracts to include Vendor Owned Inventory which
reduced lead time and has created a more efficient supply chain. This has
reduced inventory costs by lessening the amount of Safety Stock needed.
As my resume shows, I have other skills that would be a benefit to your
company and have an immediate, positive effect on your bottom line. I look
forward to discussing how I can fill your need for a qualified Operations
Manager. Please let me know when would be a good time to discuss any
questions that you may have.
Sincerely,
Chris M. Field
