WORK EXPERIENCE:

2009 to Present Sewon of America-Production & Process Engineering Manager

Manager of stamping and tooling departments. Responsible for 20 direct

reports. Metal stamping, fabricating, and sub-assembly for KIA automotive.

Process improvements: Ensuring day to day processing are refined and

improved. Core engineering process improvement: Improved transfer and

tandem lines press run rate from 8 SPM to 11 SPM. Identified and

implemented programming on robotics and movements to shorten strokes and

machine cycle time. Worked with maintenance to coordinate PLC flow and

program changes. Overall increase SPM 45%. Currently working on Blank

development reduction to decrease cost of material.

2005 to 2008 Genesee Stamping & Fabricating Grand Prairie, TX-

Engineering/Tooling Manager (Downsized and Sold)

Manager of engineering and tooling departments. Responsible for 17 direct

reports. Metal stamping, fabricating, turret presses, lasers, robotic

welding, CNC machining, and assembly.

Process improvements: Reduced scrap cost by improving blank development and

instructed team on how to reduce cost on width/size of coils with process

and vendors.

Brought in Solidworks to combine all machining centers into one unified

program and blue toothed all machines to send data direct to computers.

This reduced downtime all changes where automatically sent to improve

quality and reaction time of engineering process of systems.

Team development: Coordinated with process engineers to improve

techniques, awareness, and strategy. Taught them how to work as a team,

and work together on different programs using status meetings, brain

storming, training, and consensus techniques. Partnered with tool maker to

include them on process changes.

2003 to 2005 Precision Stamping Louisville, Ky. -Tooling/Project Engineer

(Moved to due to Company bankruptcy)

Manager of new and current tooling design, price quoting, and review. Daily

manufacturing continues improvement Die protection sensor program system.

Metal stamping on 32 ton thru 1000 tonnage transfer presses. Manufacturing

of metal stampings for the automotive and appliance industries.

Process Improvement- Development and process of engineer group domination

and continuous improvement, 5 why, problem solve. Work very closely with

customers to improve delivery, thru- put, and quality control.

2000 to 2003 Stemco Inc. Longview, TX Tooling/ Stamping Process Engineer

Responsible for new tooling design, price quoting, and review. Daily

process flows, scrap reduction, lean manufacturing, and monitoring of die

shop and stamping departments. Manufacture of stamped and molded seals for

the heavy Tractor/ trailer Industry.

Process improvements: FEMA, PPAP, APQP for manufacturing process and

worked directly with Quality department. Directed lean manufacturing

project budget for 5.3 million, I completed at 3.7 million under budget and

8 month ahead of schedule.

Team Development: Work with my team to build in quality assurance with

process engineering and implement cost reduction techniques as we developed

systems and process.

1997 to 2000 Kauffman Products Inc. Carmel, In. Tooling Manager

Responsible for new and existing tooling. Supervisor of 2 engineers and 24

tool & die makers. Coordinate planning, scheduling, & try-out of precision

metal stamping for tier 1 & 2 automotive industries. Quoting new tooling

and part prices. Developed and managed team on all aspects of engineering

and tooling.

1993 to 1997 Subaru-Isuzu Automotive Lafayette, In. -Group Leader Manager

Coordinator of engineers, die makers, apprentice, and helpers with

progressive & transfer dies for heavy (white body panels) stamping and

injection molding in the manufacturing of automobiles.

Process Improvement: All in house hemming, structures, stamping, 5 Major

Kaizen events resulting in 2 million dollars ravings. Kaizen events in

areas of steal development, reducing wrinkles, splitting on outside panels

and surface performance.

Team Development: Japanese production systems using total team concept.

Using "go and see" total visual factory and coordinate with all teams for

one common goal.

1985 to 1993 Praxair Surface Technologies Inc. Speedway, In.

Senior Toolmaker & Designer

Engaged in the set-up and operation of conventional & special process,

prototype-machining

centers for powder coated metals. Assisted with design and assemble of

mechanical equipment.

1972 to 1985 National Oil Seal (Federal Mogul) Frankfort, In.

Tool & Die Maker (Journeyman)

Made stamping dies and molds for the manufacturing of oil seals.
