International Rectifier, El Segundo CA - a multi national manufacturer of
silicon chip assemblies
Responsible for Corporate FP&A and Plant Controllership of this publicly
traded company with revenues of $1 billion and international operations.
Originally hired as Plant Controller for facility that was scheduled to be
closed. After five months I was also given responsibility for company's
largest wafer fabrication plant, located in Temecula. Four months later I
was asked to manage the corporate FP&A group.
. Reduce time to close by 45 man hours at Temecula facility.
. Operational planning for two wafer manufacturing plants.
. Work order costing and variance analysis. Yield and Capacity analysis.

ZLB Bioplasma, Glendale, CA - US sales and distribution division of
multinational manufacturer
Responsible for all finance, accounting, financial reporting, information
technology, sales reporting and customer service functions in this $165M
Biotech company with 85 employees.
. Negotiated with two large customers for the early payment of $16M
allowing early cash to be reported as cash from operations resulting in
parent company ability to improve earnings forecast given to Australian
Stock Market thus strengthening stock price.
. Designed an integrated forecasting planning tool that allowed marketing
and sales to work from off-site to get forecasts in that were then fed to
the financial model and automatically generated P&L, balance sheet and
cash flow statement reducing forecasting time from 2 weeks to 1 day.
. Partnered with marketing staff to devise a method of forecasting and
prioritizing expenses and set up projects in the ERP system to track
actual expenses as incurred allowing marketing to utilize its reduced
resources most efficiently.
. Set up complex banking structure for sister company involving lock boxes,
ZBAs, armor car deliveries and pick ups in multiple states with several
different banks.
. Recruited field engineer from our bankrupt telecom provider, contracted
with both the hardware supplier to buy straight from manufacturer and
field service company to install the new telecom system resulting in new
system in place and operating in time for new office opening and halving
the $40K loss on the original equipment order.

Alpha Therapeutic Corporation, Los Angeles, CA - a manufacturer and
distributor of biological medicines
Responsible for Operational Accounting Group comprised of three cost
accounting departments, accounts payable, payroll and fixed assets for this
$350M company with 2,300 employees.
. Developed a plan to change production mix to recover unfavorable
absorption variance thus adding $1M to the bottom line.
. Set up system to forecast manufacturing yields on weekly/monthly basis.
. Set up variance tracking and reporting system. Updated Manufacturing
Management on variance performance daily.
. Annual Physical inventory reduced from 7days to 3 days.
. Automated Bills of Material and Work Orders then converted to ERP system.
. Created an analysis that allowed for variable inputs from a product line
output that was then linked to a financial model that could predict
income, cost of sales, plant absorption, variable expenses and net income
before tax that allowed user to vary inputs to optimize output of product
lines in order to maximize top and bottom production.
. Lead the Accounts Payable, Purchasing and Inventory Control portion of a
new ERP system implementation including training staff in each department
in systems usage that resulted in developing trust in ERP system
integrity and viability.
. Improvised an MRP system using a PC data base program that allowed
production planning to change bills of materials, input the production
plan and compare requirements against downloaded on hand balances
resulting in greatly reduced purchases of materials and reduced stock
outages to zero.
. Created and implemented an automated inventory costing and control system
that self reconciled to the ledger, and reduced the reconciliation time
from 15 days to 1 day thereby allowing cost accounting to stay in time
with manufacturing and give timely feedback to manufacturing management.
. Developed and implemented a system that prioritized payables into must
pay, should pay, and can wait while negotiating with suppliers for
longer payment terms and forgiveness of certain charges that insured that
no critical supplier or governmental agency could shut down production.
